Therefore,” says the sovereign LORD,“ an enemy will encircle the land. He will take away your power; your fortresses will be looted.”

因此主永恆主這麼說：『必有敵人圍攻你的地，使你的勢力衰退，你的宮堡被掠劫。』

故主耶和華曰、將有敵人環繞斯土、敗爾力、掠爾第、

故主耶和華曰、必有敵人、環攻斯土、破爾城垣、毀爾宮殿、

故主天主曰、必有敵人環攻斯地、傾毀爾鞏固之城、傾毀爾鞏固之城或作使爾力微弱爾之宮殿必被劫奪、

Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:“ An enemy will overrun your land, pull down your strongholds and plunder your fortresses.”

So the Lord and King says,“ Enemies will take over your land. They will pull down your places of safety. They will rob your forts.”

Therefore thus says the Lord God:“ An adversary shall surround the land and bring down your defenses from you, and your strongholds shall be plundered.”

Therefore,” says the Sovereign Lord,“ an enemy is coming! He will surround them and shatter their defenses. Then he will plunder all their fortresses.”

Therefore, the Lord GOD says: An enemy will surround the land; he will destroy your strongholds and plunder your citadels.

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ An enemy, one surrounding the land, Will take down your fortifications from you, And your citadels will be looted.”

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ An adversary shall be all around the land; He shall sap your strength from you, And your palaces shall be plundered.”

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: An adversary there shall be, even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be plundered.

Therefore, the Lord God says: An enemy will surround the land; he will destroy your strongholds and plunder your citadels.

“ Look! I am about to bring a nation against you, family of Israel.” The LORD, the God who commands armies, is speaking.“ They will oppress you all the way from Lebo-Hamath to the Stream of the Arabah.”

So I will set Judah on fire, and it will consume Jerusalem’s fortresses.”

King Shalmaneser of Assyria threatened him; Hoshea became his subject and paid him tribute.The king of Assyria discovered that Hoshea was planning a revolt. Hoshea had sent messengers to King So of Egypt and had not sent his annual tribute to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria arrested him and imprisoned him.The king of Assyria marched through the whole land. He attacked Samaria and besieged it for three years.In the ninth year of Hoshea’s reign, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and deported the people of Israel to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, along the Habor( the river of Gozan), and in the cities of the Medes.

In the fourth year of King Hezekiah’s reign( it was the seventh year of the reign of Israel’s King Hoshea, son of Elah), King Shalmaneser of Assyria marched up against Samaria and besieged it.After three years he captured it( in the sixth year of Hezekiah’s reign); in the ninth year of King Hoshea’s reign over Israel Samaria was captured.The king of Assyria deported the people of Israel to Assyria. He settled them in Halah, along the Habor( the river of Gozan), and in the cities of the Medes.

They burned down the LORD’s temple and tore down the wall of Jerusalem. They burned all its fortified buildings and destroyed all its valuable items.

I will destroy both the winter and summer houses. The houses filled with ivory will be ruined, the great houses will be swept away.” The LORD is speaking!

The sovereign LORD confirms this oath by his very own life. The LORD, the God who commands armies, is speaking:“ I despise Jacob’s arrogance; I hate their fortresses. I will hand over to their enemies the city of Samaria and everything in it.”

“ They do not know how to do what is right.”( The LORD is speaking.)“ They store up the spoils of destructive violence in their fortresses.

So look, the sovereign master is bringing up against them the turbulent and mighty waters of the Euphrates River– the king of Assyria and all his majestic power. It will reach flood stage and overflow its banks.It will spill into Judah, flooding and engulfing, as it reaches to the necks of its victims. He will spread his wings out over your entire land, O Immanuel.”

They will return to Egypt! Assyria will rule over them because they refuse to repent!A sword will flash in their cities, it will destroy the bars of their city gates, and will devour them in their fortresses.

The LORD will bring on you, your people, and your father’s family a time unlike any since Ephraim departed from Judah– the king of Assyria!”At that time the LORD will whistle for flies from the distant streams of Egypt and for bees from the land of Assyria.All of them will come and make their home in the ravines between the cliffs, and in the crevices of the cliffs, in all the thorn bushes, and in all the watering holes.At that time the sovereign master will use a razor hired from the banks of the Euphrates River, the king of Assyria, to shave the head and the pubic hair; it will also shave off the beard.At that time a man will keep alive a young cow from the herd and a couple of goats.From the abundance of milk they produce, he will have sour milk for his meals. Indeed, everyone left in the heart of the land will eat sour milk and honey.At that time every place where there had been a thousand vines worth a thousand shekels will be overrun with thorns and briers.With bow and arrow men will hunt there, for the whole land will be covered with thorns and briers.They will stay away from all the hills that were cultivated, for fear of the thorns and briers. Cattle will graze there and sheep will trample on them.

During Pekah’s reign over Israel, King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria came and captured Ijon, Abel Beth Maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, including all the territory of Naphtali. He deported the people to Assyria.
