Thus says the Lord:“ For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they sell the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals—

永恆主這麼說：『以色列三番四次地悖逆，我必不收回成命，因為他們為了銀子而出賣義人，為了一雙鞋而出賣窮人。

耶和華曰、以色列干罪、至三至四、我不挽回厥罰、以其鬻義人而得銀、鬻貧民以易屨也、

耶和華又曰、以色列犯罪、至三至四、更鬻義人以得金、以貧者易履、故我必罰其罪、

主如是云、以色列人犯罪、至三至四、更為利鬻義人、為履一雙售貧者、故我降罰以報之、必不挽回、

This is what the Lord says:“ For three sins of Israel, even for four, I will not relent. They sell the innocent for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals.

The Lord says,“ The people of Israel have sinned again and again. So I will judge them. They sell into slavery those who have done no wrong. They trade needy people for a mere pair of sandals.

This is what the Lord says:“ The people of Israel have sinned again and again, and I will not let them go unpunished! They sell honorable people for silver and poor people for a pair of sandals.

The LORD says: I will not relent from punishing Israel for three crimes, even four, because they sell a righteous person for silver and a needy person for a pair of sandals.

This is what the Lord says:“ For three offenses of Israel, and for four, I will not revoke its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for money, And the needy for a pair of sandals.

Thus says the Lord:“ For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for silver, And the poor for a pair of sandals.

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Israel, yea, for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes—

The Lord says: I will not relent from punishing Israel for three crimes, even four, because they sell a righteous person for silver and a needy person for a pair of sandals.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away[ the punishment] thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

This is what the LORD says:“ Because Israel has committed three covenant transgressions– make that four!– I will not revoke my decree of judgment. They sold the innocent for silver, the needy for a pair of sandals.

Yahweh says:“ For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have sold the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals;

and have cast lots for my people, and have traded a boy for a prostitute, and have sold a girl for wine and have drunk it.

Therefore because you trample on the poor and you exact taxes of grain from him, you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins— you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and turn aside the needy in the gate.

you who hate the good and love the evil, who tear the skin from off my people and their flesh from off their bones,who eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them, and break their bones in pieces and chop them up like meat in a pot, like flesh in a cauldron.

They made kings, but not through me. They set up princes, but I knew it not. With their silver and gold they made idols for their own destruction.I have spurned your calf, O Samaria. My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of innocence?For it is from Israel; a craftsman made it; it is not God. The calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces.

Hear the word of the Lord, O children of Israel, for the Lord has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or steadfast love, and no knowledge of God in the land;there is swearing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.

because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor obeyed.

Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink,who acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of his right!

O you who put far away the day of disaster and bring near the seat of violence?“ Woe to those who lie on beds of ivory and stretch themselves out on their couches, and eat lambs from the flock and calves from the midst of the stall,who sing idle songs to the sound of the harp and like David invent for themselves instruments of music,who drink wine in bowls and anoint themselves with the finest oils, but are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph!Therefore they shall now be the first of those who go into exile, and the revelry of those who stretch themselves out shall pass away.”

whoredom, wine, and new wine, which take away the understanding.My people inquire of a piece of wood, and their walking staff gives them oracles. For a spirit of whoredom has led them astray, and they have left their God to play the whore.They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains and burn offerings on the hills, under oak, poplar, and terebinth, because their shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the whore, and your brides commit adultery.I will not punish your daughters when they play the whore, nor your brides when they commit adultery; for the men themselves go aside with prostitutes and sacrifice with cult prostitutes, and a people without understanding shall come to ruin.

And now they sin more and more, and make for themselves metal images, idols skillfully made of their silver, all of them the work of craftsmen. It is said of them,“ Those who offer human sacrifice kiss calves!”Therefore they shall be like the morning mist or like the dew that goes early away, like the chaff that swirls from the threshing floor or like smoke from a window.

who by a word make a man out to be an offender, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and with an empty plea turn aside him who is in the right.

All of them are hot as an oven, and they devour their rulers. All their kings have fallen, and none of them calls upon me.Ephraim mixes himself with the peoples; Ephraim is a cake not turned.Strangers devour his strength, and he knows it not; gray hairs are sprinkled upon him, and he knows it not.The pride of Israel testifies to his face; yet they do not return to the Lord their God, nor seek him, for all this.

And this occurred because the people of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other godsand walked in the customs of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel, and in the customs that the kings of Israel had practiced.And the people of Israel did secretly against the Lord their God things that were not right. They built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city.They set up for themselves pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree,and there they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom the Lord carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the Lord to anger,and they served idols, of which the Lord had said to them,“ You shall not do this.”Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying,“ Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God.They despised his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them.And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings and used divination and omens and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. None was left but the tribe of Judah only.

“ Oholah played the whore while she was mine, and she lusted after her lovers the Assyrians, warriorsclothed in purple, governors and commanders, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses.She bestowed her whoring upon them, the choicest men of Assyria all of them, and she defiled herself with all the idols of everyone after whom she lusted.She did not give up her whoring that she had begun in Egypt; for in her youth men had lain with her and handled her virgin bosom and poured out their whoring lust upon her.Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, into the hands of the Assyrians, after whom she lusted.

You have sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks in order to remove them far from their own border.

Hear this, you who trample on the needy and bring the poor of the land to an end,saying,“ When will the new moon be over, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may offer wheat for sale, that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great and deal deceitfully with false balances,that we may buy the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals and sell the chaff of the wheat?”

Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is accursed?Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales and with a bag of deceitful weights?Your rich men are full of violence; your inhabitants speak lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.Therefore I strike you with a grievous blow, making you desolate because of your sins.You shall eat, but not be satisfied, and there shall be hunger within you; you shall put away, but not preserve, and what you preserve I will give to the sword.You shall sow, but not reap; you shall tread olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil; you shall tread grapes, but not drink wine.For you have kept the statutes of Omri, and all the works of the house of Ahab; and you have walked in their counsels, that I may make you a desolation, and your inhabitants a hissing; so you shall bear the scorn of my people.”
