And I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not indeed so, O people of Israel?” declares the Lord.

我从你们子弟中兴起先知，又从你们少年人中兴起拿细耳人。以色列人哪，不是这样吗？”这是耶和华说的。

我也從你們子弟中興起了神言人，從你們青年人之中興起了離俗人。以色列人哪，不是這樣麼？』永恆主發神諭說。

耶和華曰、以色列人歟、我自爾諸子中、興起先知、由爾少年中、興起拿細耳人、是事豈不有諸、

耶和華又曰、以色列族乎、我在爾庶民間、簡人為先知、在爾幼稚中、選人以離世故、是事豈不有諸、

在爾子弟中、立人為先知、在爾壯男間、立人為那細珥、那細珥譯即離俗者之義下同主曰、以色列人歟、是事豈不有乎、

“ I also raised up prophets from among your children and Nazirites from among your youths. Is this not true, people of Israel?” declares the Lord.

I raised up prophets from among your children. I also set apart for myself some of your young people to be Nazirites. Isn’t that true, people of Israel?” announces the Lord.

I chose some of your sons to be prophets and others to be Nazirites. Can you deny this, my people of Israel?” asks the Lord.

I raised up some of your sons as prophets and some of your young men as Nazirites. Is this not the case, Israelites? This is the LORD’s declaration.

Then I raised up some of your sons to be prophets, And some of your young men to be Nazirites. Is this not so, you sons of Israel?” declares the Lord.

I raised up some of your sons as prophets, And some of your young men as Nazirites. Is it not so, O you children of Israel?” Says the Lord.

And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazirites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith Jehovah.

I raised up some of your sons as prophets and some of your young men as Nazirites. Is this not the case, Israelites? This is the Lord’s declaration.

And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites.[ Is it] not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.

I made some of your sons prophets and some of your young men Nazirites. Is this not true, you Israelites?” The LORD is speaking!

I raised up some of your sons for prophets, and some of your young men for Nazirites. Isn’t this true, you children of Israel?” says Yahweh.

“ Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When either a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to the Lord,he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink. He shall drink no vinegar made from wine or strong drink and shall not drink any juice of grapes or eat grapes, fresh or dried.

From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day.

So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.

Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying,“ Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

“ Do not preach”— thus they preach—“ one should not preach of such things; disgrace will not overtake us.”

The Lord, the God of their fathers, sent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place.

Therefore be careful and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean,for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”Then the woman came and told her husband,“ A man of God came to me, and his appearance was like the appearance of the angel of God, very awesome. I did not ask him where he was from, and he did not tell me his name,but he said to me,‘ Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. So then drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”

“ O my people, what have I done to you? How have I wearied you? Answer me!For I brought you up from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”

And you, O generation, behold the word of the Lord. Have I been a wilderness to Israel, or a land of thick darkness? Why then do my people say,‘ We are free, we will come no more to you’?

Her princes were purer than snow, whiter than milk; their bodies were more ruddy than coral, the beauty of their form was like sapphire.

Then the priests and the prophets said to the officials and to all the people,“ This man deserves the sentence of death, because he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.”

who say to the seers,“ Do not see,” and to the prophets,“ Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions,leave the way, turn aside from the path, let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel.”

And Elijah said to Elisha,“ Please stay here, for the Lord has sent me as far as Bethel.” But Elisha said,“ As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.And the sons of the prophets who were in Bethel came out to Elisha and said to him,“ Do you know that today the Lord will take away your master from over you?” And he said,“ Yes, I know it; keep quiet.”Elijah said to him,“ Elisha, please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho.” But he said,“ As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho drew near to Elisha and said to him,“ Do you know that today the Lord will take away your master from over you?” And he answered,“ Yes, I know it; keep quiet.”

Then he hurried to take the bandage away from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets.

Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha,“ See, the place where we dwell under your charge is too small for us.

“ You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.

And behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel and said,“ Thus says the Lord, Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will give it into your hand this day, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”

Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, and say,“ Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, or you will die by our hand”—

And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard.What more was there to do for my vineyard, that I have not done in it? When I looked for it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes?

And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of the Lord.

saying,“ We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.”

it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty,according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.But the angel said to him,“ Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth,for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.

When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to get his fruit.And the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.Again he sent other servants, more than the first. And they did the same to them.Finally he sent his son to them, saying,‘ They will respect my son.’But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves,‘ This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’

Then Saul sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

Thus says the Lord:“ What wrong did your fathers find in me that they went far from me, and went after worthlessness, and became worthless?

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said,“ Let not the king say so.”

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow at the command of the Lord,“ Strike me, please.” But the man refused to strike him.

And Jehu the son of Nimshi you shall anoint to be king over Israel, and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint to be prophet in your place.

And Amaziah said to Amos,“ O seer, go, flee away to the land of Judah, and eat bread there, and prophesy there,but never again prophesy at Bethel, for it is the king’s sanctuary, and it is a temple of the kingdom.”

and when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the Lord, Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water.)

knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation.For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out, and displease God and oppose all mankindby hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved— so as always to fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them at last!
