It was I who rescued you from Egypt and led you through the desert for forty years, so you could possess the land of the Amorites.

I brought you up out of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness to give you the land of the Amorites.

“ People of Israel, I brought you up out of Egypt. I led you in the desert for 40 years. I gave you the land of the Amorites.

Also it was I who brought you up out of the land of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

And I brought you from the land of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness in order to possess the land of the Amorite.

And it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, And led you in the wilderness for forty years So that you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.

Also it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, And led you forty years through the wilderness, To possess the land of the Amorite.

Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

And I brought you from the land of Egypt and led you 40 years in the wilderness in order to possess the land of the Amorite.

Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

I brought you up from the land of Egypt; I led you through the wilderness for forty years so you could take the Amorites’ land as your own.

Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

For the Lord your God has blessed you in everything you have done. He has watched your every step through this great wilderness. During these forty years, the Lord your God has been with you, and you have lacked nothing.”’

On that very day the Lord brought the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt like an army.

Listen to this message that the Lord has spoken against you, O people of Israel— against the entire family I rescued from Egypt:

“ Are you Israelites more important to me than the Ethiopians?” asks the Lord.“ I brought Israel out of Egypt, but I also brought the Philistines from Crete and led the Arameans out of Kir.

For I brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from slavery. I sent Moses, Aaron, and Miriam to help you.

He put up with them through forty years of wandering in the wilderness.

Then God turned away from them and abandoned them to serve the stars of heaven as their gods! In the book of the prophets it is written,‘ Was it to me you were bringing sacrifices and offerings during those forty years in the wilderness, Israel?

“ I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery.

So I brought them out of Egypt and led them into the wilderness.

When he had proved himself faithful, you made a covenant with him to give him and his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites, and Girgashites. And you have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word.“ You saw the misery of our ancestors in Egypt, and you heard their cries from beside the Red Sea.You displayed miraculous signs and wonders against Pharaoh, his officials, and all his people, for you knew how arrogantly they were treating our ancestors. You have a glorious reputation that has never been forgotten.You divided the sea for your people so they could walk through on dry land! And then you hurled their enemies into the depths of the sea. They sank like stones beneath the mighty waters.You led our ancestors by a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire at night so that they could find their way.

I will give the land to your little ones— your innocent children. You were afraid they would be captured, but they will be the ones who occupy it.

For he remembered his sacred promise to his servant Abraham.So he brought his people out of Egypt with joy, his chosen ones with rejoicing.

I said to you,‘ You have now reached the hill country of the Amorites that the Lord our God is giving us.Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’

For forty years I was angry with them, and I said,‘ They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’

Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell.

For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out, and their feet did not swell!

You performed miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt— things still remembered to this day! And you have continued to do great miracles in Israel and all around the world. You have made your name famous to this day.“ You brought Israel out of Egypt with mighty signs and wonders, with a strong hand and powerful arm, and with overwhelming terror.

So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey— the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live.

Give thanks to him who killed the firstborn of Egypt. His faithful love endures forever.He brought Israel out of Egypt. His faithful love endures forever.

“‘ You said your children would be carried off as plunder. Well, I will bring them safely into the land, and they will enjoy what you have despised.But as for you, you will drop dead in this wilderness.And your children will be like shepherds, wandering in the wilderness for forty years. In this way, they will pay for your faithlessness, until the last of you lies dead in the wilderness.“‘ Because your men explored the land for forty days, you must wander in the wilderness for forty years— a year for each day, suffering the consequences of your sins. Then you will discover what it is like to have me for an enemy.’I, the Lord, have spoken! I will certainly do these things to every member of the community who has conspired against me. They will be destroyed here in this wilderness, and here they will die!”
