主如是云、迦薩人犯罪、至三至四、更擄民眾多、付於以東、故我降罰以報之、必不挽回、

and sold the sons of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks in order to remove them far from their territory,

This is what the Lord says:“ For three offenses of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke its punishment, Because they threshed Gilead with iron sledges.

“ Do not rejoice, Philistia, all of you, Because the rod that struck you is broken; For from the serpent’s root a viper will come out, And its fruit will be a winged serpent.Those who are most helpless will eat, And the poor will lie down in security; I will kill your root with famine, And it will kill your survivors.Wail, you gate; cry, you city; Melt away, Philistia, all of you! For smoke comes from the north, And there is no straggler in his ranks.

For Gaza will be abandoned, And Ashkelon will become a desolation; The inhabitants of Ashdod will be driven out at noon, And Ekron will be uprooted.Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, The nation of the Cherethites!
