I will send fire on the house of Hazael that will consume the fortresses of Ben-Hadad.

So I will send fire to destroy the palace of King Hazael. It will burn up the forts of his son Ben- Hadad.

So I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the strongholds of Ben-hadad.

So I will send down fire on King Hazael’s palace, and the fortresses of King Ben hadad will be destroyed.

Therefore, I will send fire against Hazael’s palace, and it will consume Ben-hadad’s citadels.

So I will send fire upon the house of Hazael, And it will consume the citadels of Ben hadad.

But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, Which shall devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad.

But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben- hadad.

Therefore, I will send fire against Hazael’s palace, and it will consume Ben-hadad’s citadels.

But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

So I will set Hazael’s house on fire; fire will consume Ben Hadad’s fortresses.

Then Jehoash son of Jehoahaz recaptured from Ben-Hadad son of Hazael the towns he had taken in battle from his father Jehoahaz. Three times Jehoash defeated him, and so he recovered the Israelite towns. (niv)

Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram was ill. When the king was told,“ The man of God has come all the way up here,”he said to Hazael,“ Take a gift with you and go to meet the man of God. Consult the Lord through him; ask him,‘ Will I recover from this illness?’”Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a gift forty camel-loads of all the finest wares of Damascus. He went in and stood before him, and said,“ Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask,‘ Will I recover from this illness?’”Elisha answered,“ Go and say to him,‘ You will certainly recover.’ Nevertheless, the Lord has revealed to me that he will in fact die.”He stared at him with a fixed gaze until Hazael was embarrassed. Then the man of God began to weep.“ Why is my lord weeping?” asked Hazael.“ Because I know the harm you will do to the Israelites,” he answered.“ You will set fire to their fortified places, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little children to the ground, and rip open their pregnant women.”Hazael said,“ How could your servant, a mere dog, accomplish such a feat?”“ The Lord has shown me that you will become king of Aram,” answered Elisha.Then Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. When Ben-Hadad asked,“ What did Elisha say to you?” Hazael replied,“ He told me that you would certainly recover.”But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael succeeded him as king. (niv)

But if you do not obey me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying any load as you come through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle an unquenchable fire in the gates of Jerusalem that will consume her fortresses.’” (niv)

So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel, and for a long time he kept them under the power of Hazael king of Aram and Ben-Hadad his son. (niv)

Some time later, Ben-Hadad king of Aram mobilized his entire army and marched up and laid siege to Samaria. (niv)

I will send fire on the walls of Gaza that will consume her fortresses. (niv)

I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the Lord. (niv)

Asa then took the silver and gold out of the treasuries of the Lord’s temple and of his own palace and sent it to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus. (niv)

I will set fire to the walls of Rabbah that will consume her fortresses amid war cries on the day of battle, amid violent winds on a stormy day. (niv)

The Lord said to him,“ Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. (niv)

God also made the people of Shechem pay for all their wickedness. The curse of Jotham son of Jerub-Baal came on them. (niv)

Now Ben-Hadad king of Aram mustered his entire army. Accompanied by thirty-two kings with their horses and chariots, he went up and besieged Samaria and attacked it.He sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel, saying,“ This is what Ben-Hadad says:‘ Your silver and gold are mine, and the best of your wives and children are mine.’”The king of Israel answered,“ Just as you say, my lord the king. I and all I have are yours.”The messengers came again and said,“ This is what Ben-Hadad says:‘ I sent to demand your silver and gold, your wives and your children.But about this time tomorrow I am going to send my officials to search your palace and the houses of your officials. They will seize everything you value and carry it away.’”The king of Israel summoned all the elders of the land and said to them,“ See how this man is looking for trouble! When he sent for my wives and my children, my silver and my gold, I did not refuse him.”The elders and the people all answered,“ Don’t listen to him or agree to his demands.”So he replied to Ben-Hadad’s messengers,“ Tell my lord the king,‘ Your servant will do all you demanded the first time, but this demand I cannot meet.’” They left and took the answer back to Ben-Hadad.Then Ben-Hadad sent another message to Ahab:“ May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if enough dust remains in Samaria to give each of my men a handful.”The king of Israel answered,“ Tell him:‘ One who puts on his armor should not boast like one who takes it off.’”Ben-Hadad heard this message while he and the kings were drinking in their tents, and he ordered his men:“ Prepare to attack.” So they prepared to attack the city.Meanwhile a prophet came to Ahab king of Israel and announced,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Do you see this vast army? I will give it into your hand today, and then you will know that I am the Lord.’”“ But who will do this?” asked Ahab. The prophet replied,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ The junior officers under the provincial commanders will do it.’”“ And who will start the battle?” he asked. The prophet answered,“ You will.”So Ahab summoned the 232 junior officers under the provincial commanders. Then he assembled the rest of the Israelites, 7,000 in all.They set out at noon while Ben-Hadad and the 32 kings allied with him were in their tents getting drunk.The junior officers under the provincial commanders went out first. Now Ben-Hadad had dispatched scouts, who reported,“ Men are advancing from Samaria.”He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; if they have come out for war, take them alive.”The junior officers under the provincial commanders marched out of the city with the army behind themand each one struck down his opponent. At that, the Arameans fled, with the Israelites in pursuit. But Ben-Hadad king of Aram escaped on horseback with some of his horsemen.The king of Israel advanced and overpowered the horses and chariots and inflicted heavy losses on the Arameans.Afterward, the prophet came to the king of Israel and said,“ Strengthen your position and see what must be done, because next spring the king of Aram will attack you again.” (niv)

I will send fire on the walls of Tyre that will consume her fortresses.” (niv)

I will send fire on Judah that will consume the fortresses of Jerusalem.” (niv)

I will send fire on Moab that will consume the fortresses of Kerioth. Moab will go down in great tumult amid war cries and the blast of the trumpet. (niv)

Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are crushed. (niv)

Israel has forgotten their Maker and built palaces; Judah has fortified many towns. But I will send fire on their cities that will consume their fortresses.” (niv)

So have you acted honorably and in good faith toward Jerub- Baal and his family today? If you have, may Abimelek be your joy, and may you be his, too!But if you have not, let fire come out from Abimelek and consume you, the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and let fire come out from you, the citizens of Shechem and Beth Millo, and consume Abimelek!” (niv)
