Our Lord poured out more and more of his grace on me. Along with it came faith and love from Christ Jesus.Here is a saying that you can trust. It should be accepted completely. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the worst sinner of all.But for that very reason, God showed me mercy. And I am the worst of sinners. He showed me mercy so that Christ Jesus could show that he is very patient. I was an example for those who would come to believe in him. Then they would receive eternal life.

Send someone to Joppa to get Simon Peter. He is a guest in the home of another Simon, who works with leather. He lives by the sea.’

Paul talked about how to live a godly life. He talked about how people should control themselves. He also talked about the time when God will judge everyone. Then Felix became afraid.“ That’s enough for now!” he said.“ You may leave. When I find the time, I will send for you.”He was hoping that Paul would offer him some money to let him go. So he often sent for Paul and talked with him.

My dear friends, you have always obeyed God. You obeyed while I was with you. And you have obeyed even more while I am not with you. So continue to work out your own salvation. Do it with fear and trembling.

When the people heard this, it had a deep effect on them. They said to Peter and the other apostles,“ Brothers, what should we do?”

Lord, blessed is the person you correct. Blessed is the person you teach from your law.

The jailer called out for some lights. He rushed in, shaking with fear. He fell down in front of Paul and Silas.Then he brought them out. He asked,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

He said to Moses,“ I will have mercy on whom I have mercy. I will show love to those I love.”( Exodus 33:19)So it doesn’t depend on what people want or what they do. It depends on God’s mercy.In Scripture, God says to Pharaoh,“ I had a special reason for making you king. I decided to use you to show my power. I wanted my name to become known everywhere on earth.”( Exodus 9:16)So God does what he wants to do. He shows mercy to one person and makes another stubborn.One of you will say to me,“ Then why does God still blame us? Who can oppose what he wants to do?”But you are a mere human being. So who are you to talk back to God? Scripture says,“ Can what is made say to the one who made it,‘ Why did you make me like this?’ ”( Isaiah 29:16; 45:9)Isn’t the potter free to make different kinds of pots out of the same lump of clay? Some are for special purposes. Others are for ordinary use.What if God chose to show his great anger? What if he chose to make his power known? But he put up with the people he was angry with. They were made to be destroyed.What if he put up with them to show the riches of his glory to other people? Those other people are the ones he shows his mercy to. He made them to receive his glory.We are those people. He has chosen us. We do not come only from the Jewish race. Many of us are not Jews.

Didn’t I make everything by my power? That is how all things were created,” announces the Lord.“ The people I value are not proud. They are sorry for the wrong things they have done. They have great respect for what I say.

The Lord is honest and good. He teaches sinners to walk in his ways.He shows those who aren’t proud how to do what is right. He teaches them his ways.

“ Then what should we do?” the crowd asked.

Now get up. Stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you to serve me. And you must tell other people about me. You must tell others that you have seen me today. You must also tell them that I will show myself to you again.

I listened and my heart pounded. My lips trembled at the sound. My bones seemed to rot. And my legs shook. But I will be patient. I’ll wait for the day of trouble to come on Babylon. It’s the nation that is attacking us.

The law was given so that sin would increase. But where sin increased, God’s grace increased even more.

Then Isaiah boldly speaks about what God says. God said,“ I was found by those who were not trying to find me. I made myself known to those who were not asking for me.”( Isaiah 65:1)

But the Lord said to Ananias,“ Go! I have chosen this man to work for me. He will announce my name to the Gentiles and to their kings. He will also announce my name to the people of Israel.I will show him how much he must suffer for me.”

Who are the people who have respect for the Lord? God will teach them the ways they should choose.

“‘ What should I do, Lord?’ I asked.“‘ Get up,’ the Lord said.‘ Go into Damascus. There you will be told everything you have been given to do.’

But many who are first will be last. And many who are last will be first.

They didn’t know that God’s power makes people right with himself. They tried to get right with God in their own way. They didn’t do it in God’s way.

But God set me apart from before the time I was born. He showed me his grace by appointing me. He was pleasedto show his Son in my life. He wanted me to preach about Jesus among the Gentiles. When God appointed me, I decided right away not to ask anyone for advice.

Before I knew about the law, I was alive. But then the commandment came. Sin came to life, and I died.

He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house. The angel said,‘ Send to Joppa for Simon Peter.He has a message to bring to you. You and your whole family will be saved through it.’

“‘ “I was passing by. I saw you kicking around in your blood. As you were lying there, I said to you,‘ Live!’I made you grow like a plant in a field. Soon you had grown up. You became a young adult. Your breasts had formed. Your hair had grown. But you were completely naked.“‘ “Later, I was passing by again. I looked at you. I saw that you were old enough for love. So I married you and took good care of you. I covered your naked body. I made a firm promise to you. I entered into a covenant with you. And you became mine,” announces the Lord and King.

I have seen what they have done. But I will heal them. I will guide them. I will give those who mourn in Israel the comfort they had before.

The men replied,“ We have come from Cornelius, the Roman commander. He is a good man who worships God. All the Jewish people respect him. A holy angel told him to invite you to his house. Then Cornelius can hear what you have to say.”

When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid. Terror filled his heart.

But God continues to give us more grace. That’s why Scripture says,“ God opposes those who are proud. But he gives grace to those who are humble.”( Proverbs 3:34)
