But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.

有一个利未人，名叫约瑟，使徒称他为巴拿巴（巴拿巴翻出来就是安慰之子），生在塞浦路斯。

主啊，现在求你鉴察，他们的威吓，使你仆人放胆讲你的道，

他们见彼得、约翰的胆量，又看出他们原是没有学问的平民，就很惊讶，认出他们曾是跟耶稣一起的；

过了三年，我才上耶路撒冷去见矶法，和他同住了十五天。至于别的使徒，除了主的兄弟雅各，我都没有见过。

他又往大数去找扫罗，

我们认为，既然我们同心定意，就拣选几个人，派他们同我们所亲爱的巴拿巴和保罗到你们那里去。这二人曾为我主耶稣基督的名不顾自己的性命。

扫罗在途中，将到大马士革的时候，忽然有一道光从天上下来，四面照射着他，他就仆倒在地，听见有声音对他说：“扫罗！扫罗！你为什么迫害我？”他说：“主啊！你是谁？”主说：“我就是你所迫害的耶稣。起来！进城去，你应该做的事，必有人告诉你。”

亚拿尼亚就去了，进入那家，把手按在扫罗身上，说：“扫罗弟兄，在你来的路上向你显现的主，就是耶稣，打发我来，叫你能再看得见，又被圣灵充满。”

这风声传到耶路撒冷教会的人耳中，他们就打发巴拿巴到安提阿去。

立刻在各会堂里传扬耶稣，说他是神的儿子。凡听见的人都很惊奇，说：“在耶路撒冷残害求告这名的不就是这个人吗？他不是到这里来要捆绑他们，带到祭司长那里去吗？”但扫罗越发有能力，驳倒住在大马士革的犹太人，证明耶稣是基督。

保罗和巴拿巴跟他们发生了激烈的争执和辩论；大家就决定指派保罗、巴拿巴和本会的几个人，为所辩论的事上耶路撒冷去见使徒和长老。

巴拿巴和扫罗完成了供给的事，就回到耶路撒冷，带着称为马可的约翰同去。

但保罗和巴拿巴仍留在安提阿，和许多别的人一同教导，并传扬主的道。过了些日子，保罗对巴拿巴说：“让我们回到从前宣扬主道的各城，看看弟兄们的情况如何。”巴拿巴有意要带称为马可的约翰同去；但保罗认为不宜带他去，因为马可从前在旁非利亚离开他们，不和他们一起工作。于是二人起了争执，甚至彼此分手。巴拿巴带着马可，坐船往塞浦路斯去；

他们在事奉主和禁食的时候，圣灵说：“要为我分派巴拿巴和扫罗去做我召他们做的工作。”

也要为我祈求，让我有口才，能放胆开口讲明福音的奥秘，我为这福音的奥秘作了带铁链的使者，让我能照着当尽的本分放胆宣讲。

其余的犹太人也都随着他装假，甚至连巴拿巴也随伙装假。

那些被认为是教会柱石的雅各、矶法、约翰知道神所赐给我的恩典，就跟我和巴拿巴握右手以示合作，同意我们往外邦人那里去，他们往受割礼的人那里去。

只有我和巴拿巴没有权利不做工吗？

最后也显给我看；我如同未到产期而生的人一般。
