Then Barnabas brought him to the apostles and told them how Saul had seen the Lord on the way to Damascus and how the Lord had spoken to Saul. He also told them that Saul had preached boldly in the name of Jesus in Damascus.

But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.

But Barnabas took him to the apostles. He told them about Saul’s journey. He said that Saul had seen the Lord. He told how the Lord had spoken to Saul. Barnabas also said that Saul had preached without fear in Jesus’ name in Damascus.

For instance, there was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas( which means“ Son of Encouragement”). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus.

And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.

The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.

Then three years later I went to Jerusalem to get to know Peter, and I stayed with him for fifteen days.The only other apostle I met at that time was James, the Lord’s brother.

Then Barnabas went on to Tarsus to look for Saul.

So we decided, having come to complete agreement, to send you official representatives, along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him.He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?”“ Who are you, lord?” Saul asked. And the voice replied,“ I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting!Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

When the church at Jerusalem heard what had happened, they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

And immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ He is indeed the Son of God!”All who heard him were amazed.“ Isn’t this the same man who caused such devastation among Jesus’ followers in Jerusalem?” they asked.“ And didn’t he come here to arrest them and take them in chains to the leading priests?”Saul’s preaching became more and more powerful, and the Jews in Damascus couldn’t refute his proofs that Jesus was indeed the Messiah.

Paul and Barnabas disagreed with them, arguing vehemently. Finally, the church decided to send Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem, accompanied by some local believers, to talk to the apostles and elders about this question.

When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission to Jerusalem, they returned, taking John Mark with them.

Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch. They and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord there.After some time Paul said to Barnabas,“ Let’s go back and visit each city where we previously preached the word of the Lord, to see how the new believers are doing.”Barnabas agreed and wanted to take along John Mark.But Paul disagreed strongly, since John Mark had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in their work.Their disagreement was so sharp that they separated. Barnabas took John Mark with him and sailed for Cyprus.

One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,“ Appoint Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.”

And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike.I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.

As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews.

Or is it only Barnabas and I who have to work to support ourselves?

Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.
