裴力斯本詳知此道、乃托故延宕、謂猶太人曰：『俟千總呂西亞至、再訊。』

近復受命於司祭長、有權縛解呼籲爾名者。』

對此「新道、」予亦曾加以凌迫、無所不用其極、逮捕信男信女、下之於獄。此固司祭長與諸父老能為予作證者也。予且曾領彼等致眾兄弟之書、往大馬士革、欲將彼處奉此道者、縛解耶路撒冷處刑；

其時予承司祭長委權受命、往大馬士革。

而利伯地拿、古利奈、亞力山大、基利家、亞細亞諸地之公會、有人起而與之辯難。

目中無法紀。閹然媚強暴。泯泯復棼棼。將於何時了。胡不恤孤貧。胡不扶窮民。秉公斷曲直。掃除諸不平。保障寡與弱。莫被群兇凌。

而以陰謀詭計待之。逼我列祖、令棄嬰以絕其嗣。

越三日、葆樂邀集猶太人之首領既至、語之曰：『諸兄弟、予並未開罪於本國同胞、或違犯祖宗遺規、然竟在耶路撒冷縛解羅馬人之手、經羅馬人審問、以予未犯死罪意欲將予開釋。而為猶太人所拒、故予不得已而上訴於凱撒、但非欲對吾本國同胞有所控訴也。以是予邀汝等相見、與汝等言蓋予之所以鎯鐺被身者、乃為義塞人所共望之事耳。』眾曰：『吾儕未接猶太書述及爾事、亦無同胞來此道爾不法者；但吾儕願一聆教言、以吾所聞今之新教、固無在而不受非議也。』

葆樂等則由別加赴彼西底之安提阿。禮日、登會堂而坐、誦律法及先知書訓；司會者使人請曰：『兄弟如有勉眾之詞、願聞其說。』
