But the Lord said to Ananias,“ Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.

But when it was the good pleasure of God, who separated me, even from my mother’s womb, and called me through his grace,to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles; straightway I conferred not with flesh and blood:

whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power.Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach unto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

At my first defence no one took my part, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their account.But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

through whom we received grace and apostleship, unto obedience of faith among all the nations, for his name’s sake;

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee; I have appointed thee a prophet unto the nations.

But I speak to you that are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I glorify my ministry;

whereunto I was appointed a preacher and an apostle( I speak the truth, I lie not), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Paul, an apostle( not from men, neither through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead),

delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom I send thee,to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.Wherefore, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:but declared both to them of Damascus first, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judæa, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

These shall war against the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings; and they also shall overcome that are with him, called and chosen and faithful.

And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee forth far hence unto the Gentiles.

yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

But I write the more boldly unto you in some measure, as putting you again in remembrance, because of the grace that was given me of God,that I should be a minister of Christ Jesus unto the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.I have therefore my glorying in Christ Jesus in things pertaining to God.For I will not dare to speak of any things save those which Christ wrought through me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Holy Spirit; so that from Jerusalem, and round about even unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ;yea, making it my aim so to preach the gospel, not where Christ was already named, that I might not build upon another man’s foundation;but, as it is written, They shall see, to whom no tidings of him came, And they who have not heard shall understand.

Or hath not the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering vessels of wrath fitted unto destruction:and that he might make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto glory,even us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?

but contrariwise, when they saw that I had been intrusted with the gospel of the uncircumcision, even as Peter with the gospel of the circumcision( for he that wrought for Peter unto the apostleship of the circumcision wrought for me also unto the Gentiles);and when they perceived the grace that was given unto me, James and Cephas and John, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship, that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision;

No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.

Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should abide: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak.And he said, Oh, Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is there not Aaron thy brother the Levite? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

And I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you( and was hindered hitherto), that I might have some fruit in you also, even as in the rest of the Gentiles.I am debtor both to Greeks and to Barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you also that are in Rome.

And Agrippa said unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Cæsar.

Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some unto honor, and some unto dishonor.If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, meet for the master’s use, prepared unto every good work.

But Jehovah said unto me, Say not, I am a child; for to whomsoever I shall send thee thou shalt go, and whatsoever I shall command thee thou shalt speak.

And Agrippa said unto Festus, I also could wish to hear the man myself. To- morrow, saith he, thou shalt hear him.So on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and they were entered into the place of hearing with the chief captains and the principal men of the city, at the command of Festus Paul was brought in.And Festus saith, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye behold this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews made suit to me, both at Jerusalem and here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.But I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death: and as he himself appealed to the emperor I determined to send him.Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I may have somewhat to write.For it seemeth to me unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not withal to signify the charges against him.And Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth his hand, and made his defence:I think myself happy, king Agrippa, that I am to make my defence before thee this day touching all the things whereof I am accused by the Jews:especially because thou art expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.My manner of life then from my youth up, which was from the beginning among mine own nation and at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;having knowledge of me from the first, if they be willing to testify, that after the straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.And now I stand here to be judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers;unto which promise our twelve tribes, earnestly serving God night and day, hope to attain. And concerning this hope I am accused by the Jews, O king!Why is it judged incredible with you, if God doth raise the dead?I verily thought with myself that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.And this I also did in Jerusalem: and I both shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were put to death I gave my vote against them.And punishing them oftentimes in all the synagogues, I strove to make them blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.

And when he had saluted them, he rehearsed one by one the things which God had wrought among the Gentiles through his ministry.

whereunto I was appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher.

And it came to pass, that after three days he called together those that were the chief of the Jews: and when they were come together, he said unto them, I, brethren, though I had done nothing against the people, or the customs of our fathers, yet was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans:who, when they had examined me, desired to set me at liberty, because there was no cause of death in me.But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Cæsar; not that I had aught whereof to accuse my nation.For this cause therefore did I entreat you to see and to speak with me: for because of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.And they said unto him, We neither received letters from Judæa concerning thee, nor did any of the brethren come hither and report or speak any harm of thee.But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded the matter, testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.And some believed the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Spirit through Isaiah the prophet unto your fathers,saying, Go thou unto this people, and say, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:For this people’s heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.Be it known therefore unto you, that this salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles: they will also hear.Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must stand before Cæsar: and lo, God hath granted thee all them that sail with thee.

And the word of Jehovah came unto Jonah the second time, saying,Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

whereof I was made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which was given me to you- ward, to fulfil the word of God,even the mystery which hath been hid for ages and generations: but now hath it been manifested to his saints,to whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:whom we proclaim, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ;whereunto I labor also, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
