Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,

Now the magicians so worked with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not. So there were lice on man and beast.Then the magicians said to Pharaoh,“ This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the Lord had said.

And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time.

There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.

having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds.Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. Then the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments; and Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the Lord had said.

‘ And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people.

And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.

But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error.
