And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He did not offer any answer.Then Pilate* said to Him,“ Do You not hear how many things they are testifying against You?”And still He did not answer him in regard to even a single charge, so the governor was greatly amazed.Now at the Passover Feast the governor was accustomed to release for the people any one prisoner whom they wanted.And at that time they were holding a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.So when the people gathered together, Pilate said to them,“ Whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”For he knew that it was because of envy that they had handed Him over.And while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him a message, saying,“ See that you have nothing to do with that righteous Man; for last night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him.”But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas, and to put Jesus to death.And the governor said to them,“ Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said,“ Barabbas.”Pilate* said to them,“ Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all* said,“ Crucify Him!”But he said,“ Why, what evil has He done?” Yet they kept shouting all the more, saying,“ Crucify Him!”Now when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying,“ I am innocent of this Man’s blood; you yourselves shall see.”And all the people replied,“ His blood shall be on us and on our children!”Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

A posterity will serve Him; It will be told of the Lord to the coming generation.

Therefore the Law is ignored, And justice is never upheld. For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore justice comes out confused.

Then after the sixty two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.

My strength is dried up like a piece of pottery, And my tongue clings to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death.

“ Awake, sword, against My Shepherd, And against the Man, My Associate,” Declares the Lord of armies.“ Strike the Shepherd and the sheep will be scattered; And I will turn My hand against the little ones.

Who declare the wicked innocent for a bribe, And take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death: death on a cross.For this reason also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,

But the Lord desired To crush Him, causing Him grief; If He renders Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.

As a result of this, Pilate made efforts to release Him; but the Jews shouted, saying,“ If you release this Man, you are not a friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar!”Therefore when Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement— but in Hebrew, Gabbatha.Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he* said to the Jews,“ Look, your King!”So they shouted,“ Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!” Pilate* said to them,“ Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered,“ We have no king except Caesar.”So he then handed Him over to them to be crucified.
