掃羅也贊同殺害司提反。從那一天開始，有大逼迫臨到耶路撒冷的教會。除了使徒以外，他們都分散到猶太和撒馬利亞地區。

公認是柱石的雅各、磯法和約翰，既然明白了神所賜給我的恩典，就向巴拿巴和我伸出右手行契合之禮，要我們往外邦人那裡去，而他們往受割禮的人那裡去；

並派了我們的弟兄——在基督的福音工作上的神的同工提摩太，好在信仰上堅固你們、鼓勵你們，

我們之所以也不住地感謝神，是因為你們接受了從我們所聽的神的話語，沒有把它看做人的話語，而是把它看做神的話語接受了；這確實是神的話語，而且它也正在你們這些信的人裡面做工。

並且使用一切不義的詭計，因為他們不接受那能使他們得救的真理之愛。

後來，使徒們和在猶太各地的弟兄們聽說外邦人也接受了神的話語。

有一次，在下午三點禱告的時候，彼得和約翰上聖殿去。一個生來瘸腿的被人抬來。他天天被放在那叫「美門」的聖殿門口，為要向進聖殿的人乞討。他看見彼得和約翰正要進入聖殿，就求他們施捨。

那被撒上種子的『好土壤』是這樣的人：他聽了這話語，就領悟了，必然結出果實來，結出的有一百倍的、有六十倍的、有三十倍的。」

拒絕我，又不接受我話的人，自有定他罪的：我所講的話語，在末日要定他的罪。

耶穌差派彼得和約翰，說：「你們去為我們預備逾越節的晚餐，好讓我們能吃上。」

這裡的人比帖撒羅尼迦的人開明。他們滿心樂意地接受這福音，天天查考經文，要看這些事是否如此。

於是領受他話的人就受了洗；那一天大約增加了三千人。

於是那些因司提反的事受患難而四散的信徒，就一直走到腓尼基地區、塞浦路斯島和安提阿。他們只向猶太人，而不向任何人傳講福音。但其中有一些塞浦路斯人和古利奈人，來到安提阿，也向希臘人講道，傳主耶穌的福音。主的手與他們同在，有許許多多的人就相信、歸向了主。這消息傳到在耶路撒冷的教會，他們就派巴拿巴到安提阿去。

來到耶路撒冷，他們受到教會、使徒們和長老們的歡迎，就向大家傳講了神與他們一起做的事。
