当时，扫罗也赞成杀死司提凡。从那天起，耶路撒冷的教会开始遭到极大的迫害。除了使徒之外，门徒都分散到犹太和撒玛利亚各地。

弃绝我、不接受我话的人将受到审判，我讲过的道在末日要审判他，

耶稣差派彼得和约翰出去，说：“你们为我们准备逾越节吃的晚餐。”

当地的人比帖撒罗尼迦人通情达理，非常乐意接受真道，还天天查考圣经，研究这道是否正确。

结果，那天约有三千人相信了他传的道，接受了洗礼。

司提凡殉道后，信徒们因受迫害而四散到各处，远至腓尼基、塞浦路斯和安提阿，他们只向那里的犹太人传福音。不过，有些塞浦路斯和古利奈的信徒到了安提阿之后，也向希腊人传讲主耶稣的福音。上帝的能力伴随着他们，有许多人信了主。耶路撒冷教会的人听到这消息后，就派巴拿巴去安提阿。

他们到了耶路撒冷，受到教会、使徒和长老的接待，并详述了上帝借他们所做的一切事。
