And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

But among the Lord’s people, women are not independent of men, and men are not independent of women.

So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus.As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said,“ Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?”

“ And now I know that none of you to whom I have preached the Kingdom will ever see me again.

One of them was Lydia from Thyatira, a merchant of expensive purple cloth, who worshiped God. As she listened to us, the Lord opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying.She and her household were baptized, and she asked us to be her guests.“ If you agree that I am a true believer in the Lord,” she said,“ come and stay at my home.” And she urged us until we agreed.

Yet more and more people believed and were brought to the Lord— crowds of both men and women.

For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

However, some of the believers who went to Antioch from Cyprus and Cyrene began preaching to the Gentiles about the Lord Jesus.

They replied,“ Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household.Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized.He brought them into his house and set a meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in God.

Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike— the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.

But Jesus told him,“ Let the spiritually dead bury their own dead! Your duty is to go and preach about the Kingdom of God.”

Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, and everyone in his household believed in the Lord. Many others in Corinth also heard Paul, became believers, and were baptized.
