眾人從小的到大的、都意向着他，說：『這個人就是上帝的能力，那稱為大能力的！』

他們卻等着他快要發炎腫起來，或是驀然仆倒死去；等了好久，見沒有甚麼怪狀傷害了他，就轉念說他是個神。

羣眾看見保羅所作的，就提高了聲音，用呂高尼話說：『有神成了人形降臨在我們中間了！』

他們各人必不再教導自己的鄰舍、和自己的弟兄，說：「你該認識永恆主！」因為他們從最小的、到至大的、都必認識我，永恆主發神諭說：因為我要赦免他們的罪孽；他們的罪、我必不再追念。』

但在蒙召的、無論是猶太人、是希利尼人、基督總是上帝能力、上帝的智慧。

使我們不再做孩童、像波浪漂來漂去，被各樣教義的風帶前帶後，就是人用欺騙手段、用狡猾施展謬妄之詭計造出來的。

尼尼微人信了上帝，便宣告禁食，從最大的到至小的都穿着麻衣。

你們既然精明，竟喜歡容忍糊塗人！
