Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him—

Was there ever a prophet your people didn’t try to hurt? They even killed those who told about the coming of the Blameless One. And now you have handed him over to his enemies. You have murdered him.

Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.

He answered,“ I have been absolutely loyal to the LORD, the sovereign God, even though the Israelites have abandoned the agreement they made with you, torn down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left and now they want to take my life.”

But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his warnings, and ridiculed his prophets. Finally the LORD got very angry at his people and there was no one who could prevent his judgment.

who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets and persecuted us severely. They are displeasing to God and are opposed to all people,

Woe to you! “ It did no good for me to punish your people. They did not respond to such correction. You slaughtered your prophets like a voracious lion.”

Then he said,‘ The God of our ancestors has already chosen you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear a command from his mouth,

But you rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a man who was a murderer be released to you.You killed the Originator of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this fact we are witnesses!

“ Nonetheless they grew disobedient and rebelled against you; they disregarded your law. They killed your prophets who had solemnly admonished them in order to cause them to return to you. They committed atrocious blasphemies.

The LORD sent prophets among them to lead them back to him. They warned the people, but they would not pay attention.God’s Spirit energized Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. As Zechariah was dying, he said,“ May the LORD take notice and seek vengeance!”

this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles.

When he heard Jeremiah’s prophecy, he had the prophet flogged. Then he put him in the stocks which were at the Upper Gate of Benjamin in the LORD’s temple.

They probed into what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he testified beforehand about the sufferings appointed for Christ and his subsequent glory.

And all the prophets, from Samuel and those who followed him, have spoken about and announced these days.

Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king is coming to you: he is legitimate and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey– on a young donkey, the foal of a female donkey.

But you should take careful note of this: If you put me to death, you will bring on yourselves and this city and those who live in it the guilt of murdering an innocent man. For the LORD has sent me to speak all this where you can hear it. That is the truth!”

“ To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write the following:“ This is the solemn pronouncement of the Holy One, the True One, who holds the key of David, who opens doors no one can shut, and shuts doors no one can open:

So I threw myself down at his feet to worship him, but he said,“ Do not do this! I am only a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony about Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony about Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, this man stands before you healthy.

saying,“ We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name. Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood on us!”But Peter and the apostles replied,“ We must obey God rather than people.The God of our forefathers raised up Jesus, whom you seized and killed by hanging him on a tree.

But the tenants seized his slaves, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.Again he sent other slaves, more than the first, and they treated them the same way.Finally he sent his son to them, saying,‘ They will respect my son.’But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves,‘ This is the heir. and they brought Uriah back from there. They took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him executed and had his body thrown into the burial place of the common people.
