然未嘗畀之為業、抑且身無立錐之地、惟有以此賜彼及其後裔為業之許諾。而亞伯漢當時固未有後也。

He gave him no inheritance here, not even enough ground to set his foot on. But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child.

God didn’t give him any property here. He didn’t even give him enough land to set his foot on. But God made a promise to him and to all his family after him. He said they would possess the land. The promise was made even though at that time Abraham had no child.

Yet he gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot’s length, but promised to give it to him as a possession and to his offspring after him, though he had no child.

爾所旅者、即迦南一境、我將以之賜爾及爾苗裔、永為恆產、我亦為其上帝。○

耶和華顯現與亞伯蘭曰、我將以斯土、賜爾苗裔、亞伯蘭乃於顯現之處、築壇以祭。

所見之地、我必賜爾、爰及苗裔、永世勿替、

當日耶和華與亞伯蘭約、曰、我以斯土、賜爾苗裔、自埃及河至百辣大河、

旅於斯土、我將佑爾、錫嘏於爾、以此列邦賜爾、爰及苗裔、昔與爾父亞伯拉罕誓、我踐其言、

爾察其心、知彼竭忠、故與之約、以迦南人、赫人、亞摩哩人、比哩洗人、耶布士人、革迦西人之地、錫其苗裔、爾真實無妄、言出惟行。

耶和華諭之曰、昔我所誓亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各以地錫其後裔者即此、爾可目睹、惟不得濟。○

我於爾中為賓旅、請以塚地與我、使死者得葬。○

耶和華據其巔曰、我乃爾祖亞伯拉罕與以撒之上帝耶和華、爾所寢之地、悉以賚爾、爰及苗裔。爾裔繁衍如塵沙、蔓延四方、天下兆民、憑藉爾裔、以徼福祉。我必祐爾、爾所向往、我必庇護、使歸斯土、不汝遐棄、吾所許者、必踐其言。○

爾之得土、非為爾正心行義、乃為斯民行惡、爾之上帝耶和華、驅之於爾前、以踐其所誓爾祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各之言。

昔耶和華誓、以產乳與蜜之地、錫爾列祖、爰及後裔、爾既入彼、據有斯土、可享遐齡。

為旅於上帝許賜之地、猶在異邦、以撒雅各亦蒙上帝所許、與亞伯拉罕各居於幕、俟上帝所建造鞏固之邑、

我必以爾為民、我亦必為爾之上帝、使爾知我乃爾上帝耶和華、拯爾於埃及、釋爾負戴。我耶和華昔有誓、言錫地與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各、今導爾入斯土、予爾為業。

昔爾上帝耶和華誓爾祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各、賜爾以地、在彼有邑、美而且廣、爾所未建者、宅第中充以嘉物、爾所未充者、有井爾所未鑿者、有葡萄園橄欖樹、爾所未植者、既導爾入、以此與爾、食之果腹、

我將錫嘏、賜之生子、為群民母、列王由之出。亞伯拉罕俯伏竊哂、私自思維、謂我已期頤、撒拉年亦九十、烏能生育。亞伯拉罕求上帝曰、願以實馬利於爾前、得保其生、幸矣。上帝曰、爾妻撒拉、果必生子、命名以撒、我將與以撒、及其後裔、立永約。

命我啟行、為民先導、得主所誓爾祖之地。○

勿與戰爭、即其尺土、我不汝給、乃以西耳山賜以掃為業。

彼立厥約、永世弗忘兮、昔與亞伯拉罕立約、與以撒發誓兮、復於雅各家、以色列族中、重申其命、永著為例兮、詔曰、余以迦南、錫爾為業兮、當時人寡、其數無幾、為旅於斯土兮、

撒勑謂亞伯蘭曰、耶和華不賜我生育、爾且與婢同室、或可因之以得子。亞伯蘭從其言。

亞伯蘭曰、吾主耶和華將何以賜我、蓋我無子、惟大馬色人以利亞薩為我家宰。又曰、爾未賜我子、則素育於我家者、將為我嗣。耶和華諭之曰、此非爾嗣、必自爾出者、乃為爾嗣。遂攜之門外曰、仰觀乎天、眾星可悉數與。又曰、汝苗裔必如是。

此皆有信、雖至沒、不得所許之福、第遙望欣喜以晉接、自謂於世若賓旅、如是者、明言其欲得土、彼若思所出之故鄉、則有轉機、然其所慕者於天有至樂之國、故上帝雖為彼上帝、而不以為恥、為之備邑、
