然未嘗畀之為業、抑且身無立錐之地、惟有以此賜彼及其後裔為業之許諾。而亞伯漢當時固未有後也。

He gave him no inheritance here, not even enough ground to set his foot on. But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child.

God didn’t give him any property here. He didn’t even give him enough land to set his foot on. But God made a promise to him and to all his family after him. He said they would possess the land. The promise was made even though at that time Abraham had no child.

Yet he gave him no inheritance in it, not even a foot’s length, but promised to give it to him as a possession and to his offspring after him, though he had no child.

爾今所旅之地、即迦南全境、我將賜爾、及爾苗裔、以為永業、我亦為其上帝、○

耶和華顯見於亞伯蘭曰、我將以斯土賜爾苗裔、亞伯蘭為顯見之耶和華、築壇於彼、

凡所見之地、我必賜爾、及爾苗裔、永世弗替、

當日耶和華與亞伯蘭約、曰、我以斯土、賜爾苗裔、自埃及河、至伯拉大河、

旅於斯土、我將偕爾、錫爾以嘏、以此列邦賜爾、爰及苗裔、昔與乃父亞伯拉罕所誓者、我必踐其言、

見其忠心、與之立約、以迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、耶布斯人、革迦撒人之地、錫其苗裔、緣爾公義、踐厥前言、

耶和華諭之曰、此地乃我所誓於亞伯拉罕以撒雅各、以賜其後裔者、我使爾目睹、惟不得濟、

我於爾中為賓旅、請以塚地與我、葬我死者、使之離我、

耶和華立其巔曰、我乃耶和華、爾祖亞伯拉罕、與以撒之上帝、爾所寢之地、悉以畀爾、爰及苗裔、爾裔必繁衍如土塵、蔓延四方、天下萬民、將緣爾與裔而獲福、我必偕爾、無論何往、我必護爾、使歸斯土、不汝遐棄、吾所許者、必踐其言、

爾之入據其地、非為爾義、及心之正、乃爾上帝耶和華因斯族之惡、而驅逐之、以踐所誓爾祖亞伯拉罕以撒雅各之言、

延年於耶和華誓賜爾祖、及其後裔之土、即流乳與蜜之地、

以信而旅於所許之地、如在異地、偕共承上帝所許之以撒雅各居於幕、蓋望有基之邑其營之造之者、上帝也、

我將以爾為民、吾為爾之上帝、使知我乃爾上帝耶和華、脫爾於埃及人所加之重負者、昔我誓賜亞伯拉罕以撒雅各之地、必導爾入之、予爾為業、我乃耶和華也、

昔爾上帝耶和華、誓於爾祖亞伯拉罕以撒雅各、賜爾之地、既導爾入、使得大而且美之邑、非爾所自建者、得其第宅、充以嘉物、非爾所自充者、得已鑿之井、非爾所自鑿者、得所植之葡萄園、橄欖樹、非爾所自植者、爾食之而飽、

我必祝之、賜之生子、復錫以嘏、使為列國之母、列王由之而出、亞伯拉罕俯伏而哂、竊謂百歲之人、猶能生子乎、撒拉年九十、猶能生育乎、乃對上帝曰、惟願以實瑪利生存於爾前、上帝曰、否、爾妻撒拉必生子、可名以撒、我將與彼立約、為其後裔之永約、

耶和華諭我曰、爾其啟行、導民入據我所誓許厥祖、賜彼之地、○

勿與之爭、其地即容一足之區、我不爾予、蓋我已將西珥山賜以掃為業、

永念其約、所諭之言、千代不忘、即與亞伯拉罕所立之約、對以撒所發之誓、且於雅各為定例、於以色列為永約兮、曰、我必錫爾以迦南地、為爾所得之業兮、當時人寡、其數無幾、旅於斯土兮、

撒萊謂亞伯蘭曰、耶和華禁我生育、請爾與我婢同室、我或可因之得子、亞伯蘭從其言、

亞伯蘭曰、主耶和華歟、何以賜我、蓋我無子、承我業者、大馬色人以利以謝也、又曰、爾未賜我子、育於我家者、將為我嗣、耶和華諭之曰、此非爾嗣、必自爾出者、乃為爾嗣、遂攜之出、曰、仰觀於天、眾星可核數乎、又曰、汝苗裔必如是、

此皆有信而死、未得所許、惟遙望而迎之、自謂在世為賓旅、為寄寓者、夫如是言者、明表其尋求家鄉也、若念所出之地、必有機可歸、惟其所慕者尤善、即在天者、故上帝不恥稱為彼之上帝、蓋曾為之備邑焉、○
