Now it came about, when the king lived in his house, and the Lord had given him rest on every side from all his enemies,that the king said to Nathan the prophet,“ See now, I live in a house of cedar, but the ark of God remains within the tent.”Nathan said to the king,“ Go, do all that is in your mind, for the Lord is with you.”But in the same night, the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying,“ Go and say to My servant David,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ Should you build Me a house for My dwelling?

Now then, this is what you shall say to My servant David:‘ This is what the Lord of armies says:“ I Myself took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be leader over My people Israel.And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have eliminated all your enemies from you; I will also make a great name for you, like the names of the great men who are on the earth.And I will establish a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, so that they may live in their own place and not be disturbed again, nor will malicious people oppress them anymore as previously,even from the day that I appointed judges over My people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies. The Lord also declares to you that the Lord will make a house for you.When your days are finished and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come from you, and I will establish his kingdom.He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and with strokes of sons of mankind,but My favor shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from you.Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”

And it came about, when David lived in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet,“ Look, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under tent curtains.”Then Nathan said to David,“ Do whatever is in your heart, for God is with you.”But it happened that same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,“ Go and tell David My servant,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ You shall not build a house for Me to dwell in;

Now the Lord said to Samuel,“ How long are you going to mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, because I have chosen a king for Myself among his sons.”

Then David the king came in and sat before the Lord, and he said,“ Who am I, Lord God, and who are the members of my household, that You have brought me this far?And yet this was insignificant in Your eyes, Lord God, for You have spoken also of the house of Your servant regarding the distant future. And this is the custom of mankind, Lord God.

Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones, And said,“ I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him,With whom My hand will be established; My arm also will strengthen him.The enemy will not deceive him, Nor will the son of wickedness afflict him.But I will crush his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him.My faithfulness and My favor will be with him, And in My name his horn will be exalted.I will also place his hand on the sea, And his right hand on the rivers.He will call to Me,‘ You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation.’I will also make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth.I will maintain My favor for him forever, And My covenant shall be confirmed to him.So I will establish his descendants forever, And his throne as the days of heaven.“ If his sons abandon My Law And do not walk in My judgments,If they violate My statutes And do not keep My commandments,Then I will punish their wrongdoing with the rod, And their guilt with afflictions.But I will not withhold My favor from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.I will not violate My covenant, Nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David.His descendants shall endure forever, And his throne as the sun before Me.It shall be established forever like the moon, And a witness in the sky is faithful.” Selah

Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.But the Lord said to my father David,‘ Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.Nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will be born to you, he will build the house for My name.’

The Lord has sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back:“ I will set upon your throne one from the fruit of your body.

But David said to Michal,“ I was before the Lord, who preferred me to your father and to all his house, to appoint me as ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. So I will celebrate before the Lord!

So Samuel said to him,“ The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to your neighbor, who is better than you.

David said to Solomon,“ My son, I had intended to build a house for the name of the Lord my God.But the word of the Lord came to me, saying,‘ You have shed much blood and have waged great wars; you shall not build a house to My name, because you have shed so much blood on the earth before Me.

Then Samuel said to Jesse,“ Are these all the boys?” And he said,“ The youngest is still left, but behold, he is tending the sheep.” So Samuel said to Jesse,“ Send word and bring him; for we will not take our places at the table until he comes here.”So he sent word and brought him in. Now he was reddish, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the Lord said,“ Arise, anoint him; for this is he.”So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward. And Samuel set out and went to Ramah.

Now with all my ability I have provided for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, the silver for the things of silver, the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance.In addition, in my delight in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already provided for the holy temple,

But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loved.And He built His sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which He has established forever.He also chose His servant David And took him from the sheepfolds;From the care of the ewes with nursing lambs He brought him To shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel His inheritance.So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them with his skillful hands.

Then King David rose to his feet and said,“ Listen to me, my brothers and my people; I had intended to build a permanent home for the ark of the covenant of the Lord and for the footstool of our God. So I had made preparations to build it.But God said to me,‘ You shall not build a house for My name, because you are a man of war and have shed blood.’Yet, the Lord, the God of Israel, chose me from all the household of my father to be king over Israel forever. For He has chosen Judah to be a leader; and in the house of Judah, my father’s house, and among the sons of my father He took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.Of all my sons( for the Lord has given me many sons), He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.
