But God turned away from them and gave them over to the worship of the sun, moon and stars. This agrees with what is written in the book of the prophets:“‘ Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, people of Israel?

神就转身不顾，任凭他们去事奉天上的万象，正如先知书上所记载的：‘以色列家呀！你们在旷野的四十年里献上的牺牲和祭物，难道是给我的吗？

神就轉臉不顧，任憑他們事奉天上的日月星辰，正如先知書上所寫的說：以色列家啊，你們四十年間在曠野，豈是將犧牲和祭物獻給我嗎？

上帝就轉臉不顧，任憑他們去服事天上的星軍，正如神言人們書上所寫的：「以色列家啊，你們四十年在野地裏何曾將犧牲和祭物供獻與我呢？

神就轉身不顧，任憑他們去事奉天上的萬象，正如先知書上所記載的：『以色列家呀！你們在曠野的四十年裡獻上的犧牲和祭物，難道是給我的嗎？

於是上帝轉而不顧、任其奉事天軍、如先知書所錄云、以色列室乎、爾四十年於曠野、豈以犧牲祭物獻我乎、

於是、上帝弗恤、聽其奉事天上列宿、先知書有云、以色列族乎、爾於曠野四十年、非以犧牲祭物獻我歟、

於是天主離之、聽其奉事天上群星、如先知書所載云、以色列族乎、爾於曠野歷四十年、獻犧牲祭物、豈獻於我乎、

天主乃棄置之、任彼奉事天上之日月星辰、此正如先知書所記曰：嗚呼義塞之家室、率彼曠野四十春。何曾貢我以祭品、何曾獻我以犧牲。

But God turned away from them. He let them go on worshiping the sun, moon and stars. This agrees with what is written in the book of the prophets. There it says,“‘ People of Israel, did you bring me sacrifices and offerings for 40 years in the desert?

But God turned away and gave them over to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets:“‘ Did you bring to me slain beasts and sacrifices, during the forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

Then God turned away from them and abandoned them to serve the stars of heaven as their gods! In the book of the prophets it is written,‘ Was it to me you were bringing sacrifices and offerings during those forty years in the wilderness, Israel?

God turned away and gave them up to worship the stars of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: House of Israel, did you bring me offerings and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness?

But God turned away and gave them over to serve the heavenly lights; as it is written in the book of the prophets:‘ You did not offer Me victims and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness, did you, house of Israel?

Then God turned and gave them up to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the Prophets:‘ Did you offer Me slaughtered animals and sacrifices during forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

But God turned, and gave them up to serve the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, Did ye offer unto me slain beasts and sacrifices Forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

Then God turned away and gave them up to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: House of Israel, did you bring Me offerings and sacrifices 40 years in the wilderness?

Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices[ by the space of] forty years in the wilderness?

But God turned away from them and gave them over to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets:‘ It was not to me that you offered slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, was it, house of Israel?

But God turned, and gave them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the book of the prophets,‘ Did you offer to me slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

“ Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings forty years in the wilderness, people of Israel?You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idols, the star of your god— which you made for yourselves.

“‘ As for you, people of Israel, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you! But afterward you will surely listen to me and no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and idols.

The houses in Jerusalem and those of the kings of Judah will be defiled like this place, Topheth— all the houses where they burned incense on the roofs to all the starry hosts and poured out drink offerings to other gods.’”

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator— who is forever praised. Amen.Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

“ But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me.So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.

Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them.

If you forsake the Lord and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.”

Ephraim is joined to idols; leave him alone!

And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars— all the heavenly array— do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.

so I also will choose harsh treatment for them and will bring on them what they dread. For when I called, no one answered, when I spoke, no one listened. They did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me.”

He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had destroyed; he also erected altars to Baal and made an Asherah pole, as Ahab king of Israel had done. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them.

if I have regarded the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor,so that my heart was secretly enticed and my hand offered them a kiss of homage,then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high.

They forsook all the commands of the Lord their God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal.

As has just been said:“ Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.”Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness?

For forty years I was angry with that generation; I said,‘ They are a people whose hearts go astray, and they have not known my ways.’

where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did.

“‘ When any of the Israelites or any foreigner residing in Israel separate themselves from me and set up idols in their hearts and put a wicked stumbling block before their faces and then go to a prophet to inquire of me, I the Lord will answer them myself.I will set my face against them and make them an example and a byword. I will remove them from my people. Then you will know that I am the Lord.“‘ And if the prophet is enticed to utter a prophecy, I the Lord have enticed that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel.They will bear their guilt— the prophet will be as guilty as the one who consults him.

and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars in the sky,

So I gave them other statutes that were not good and laws through which they could not live;

He then brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun in the east.

He led them out of Egypt and performed wonders and signs in Egypt, at the Red Sea and for forty years in the wilderness.

You have not brought me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with grain offerings nor wearied you with demands for incense.

and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lieand so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
