神就轉身不顧，任憑他們去事奉天上的萬象，正如先知書上所記載的：『以色列家呀！你們在曠野的四十年裡獻上的犧牲和祭物，難道是給我的嗎？

於是上帝轉而不顧、任其奉事天軍、如先知書所錄云、以色列室乎、爾四十年於曠野、豈以犧牲祭物獻我乎、

於是、上帝弗恤、聽其奉事天上列宿、先知書有云、以色列族乎、爾於曠野四十年、非以犧牲祭物獻我歟、

於是天主離之、聽其奉事天上群星、如先知書所載云、以色列族乎、爾於曠野歷四十年、獻犧牲祭物、豈獻於我乎、

天主乃棄置之、任彼奉事天上之日月星辰、此正如先知書所記曰：嗚呼義塞之家室、率彼曠野四十春。何曾貢我以祭品、何曾獻我以犧牲。

以色列家啊！你們在曠野四十年，有獻燔祭和素祭給我嗎？你們抬著你們的神“撒固”王，和你們的星神“迦溫”的神像，就是你們為自己所做的。

以色列家啊，至於你們，主耶和華這樣說：你們各人去事奉自己的偶像吧！只是將來你們必要聽從我，不可再以你們的供物和偶像褻瀆我的聖名。

‘耶路撒冷的房屋和猶大列王的宮殿，都要像陀斐特一樣成為不潔；人曾在這一切房屋宮殿的屋頂上，向天上的萬象燒香，向別神澆奠祭。’”

因此，神就任憑他們順著心中的私慾去作污穢的事，以致羞辱自己的身體。他們用虛謊取代了神的真理，敬拜事奉受造之物，卻不敬拜事奉造物的主。他是永遠可稱頌的，阿們。因此，神就任憑他們放縱可恥的情慾：他們的女人把原來的性的功能，變成違反自然的功能；同樣地，男人也捨棄了女人原來的性功能，彼此慾火攻心，男人與男人作出可恥的事。他們這樣妄為，就在自己身上受到應該受的報應。他們既然故意不認識神，神就任憑他們存著敗壞的心，去作那些不正當的事。

我的子民卻不聽我的話，以色列不肯服從我。因此，我就任憑他們心裡剛硬，隨著自己的計謀行事。

可是，他們竟然悖逆，使他的聖靈憂傷；所以他轉作他們的仇敵，親自攻擊他們。

如果你們離棄耶和華，去事奉外族人的神，那麼在耶和華賜福給你們之後，他必轉而降禍與你們，把你們消滅。”

以法蓮和偶像連在一起，任憑他吧！

又恐怕你抬頭望天，看見日、月、星，就是天上萬象的時候，就被勾引，去敬拜和事奉它們，那原是耶和華你們的神分給天下萬民享用的。

所以，我也必選擇迷惑他們的事，使他們所懼怕的臨到他們身上；因為我呼喚你們，卻沒有人回答；我說話，你們都不聽，反倒行我眼中看為惡的事，選擇我所不喜悅的事。”

他重新建造邱壇，就是他父親希西家所拆毀的；又為巴力建立祭壇，做亞舍拉，好像以色列王亞哈所做的，並且敬拜事奉天上的萬象。

我若見太陽（“太陽”直譯是“光”）照耀，或明月行在空中，以致心中暗暗地受到迷惑，用自己的嘴親手；那麼這也就是該受審判的罪孽，因為我欺哄了高高在上的神。

他們丟棄耶和華他們神的一切吩咐，為自己做了兩個牛犢的鑄像，又做亞舍拉，並且敬拜天上的萬象和服事巴力；

經上說：“如果你們今天聽從他的聲音，就不要硬著心，像惹他發怒的時候一樣。”那時，聽了他的話而惹他發怒的是誰呢？不就是摩西從埃及領出來的那些人嗎？四十年之久，神向誰發怒呢？不就是向那些犯了罪陳屍曠野的人嗎？

四十年之久，我厭惡那個世代的人；我曾說：“他們是心裡迷誤的人民，不認識我的道路。”

在那裡，你們的祖先以試驗來試探我，觀看我的作為有四十年之久。

因為以色列家的人中，或是在以色列寄居的外族人中，凡與我疏遠，把他們的偶像接到心裡去，把那陷自己在罪孽中的絆腳石放在自己面前，卻又來見先知，要為自己求問我的，我耶和華必親自報應他；我必向那人變臉，使他成為別人的鑒戒和譏笑的對象；我要把他從我子民中剪除；你們就知道我是耶和華。如果有先知被欺騙說一句話，是我耶和華任那先知受欺騙的；我必伸手攻擊他，把他從我子民以色列中除滅。他們必擔當自己的罪孽；求問的人的罪孽怎樣，先知的罪孽也必怎樣。

去事奉別的神，並且敬拜它們，敬拜太陽或月亮，或任何天象，是我耶和華沒有吩咐的；

因此，我也把不好的律例和不能藉以存活的典章賜給他們；

他又領我到耶和華殿的內院，在耶和華殿的門口，就是在走廊和祭壇中間，約有二十五個人，背向耶和華的殿，面向著東方；他們正在朝著東面叩拜太陽。

這人領他們出來，並且在埃及地、紅海和曠野，行奇事神蹟四十年。

作燔祭用的羊，你沒有帶來給我；也沒有用你的祭物來尊敬我；我沒有因獻供物使你勞累；也沒有因獻乳香使你厭煩。

並且在那些沉淪的人身上，行各樣不義的欺詐，因為他們不領受愛真理的心，使他們得救。因此，神就使錯謬的思想運行在他們當中，讓他們相信虛謊，叫所有不信真理倒喜愛不義的人，都被定罪。
