他拉帶着他的兒子亞伯蘭、和他的孫子、哈蘭的兒子羅得、跟他兒媳婦亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊，領他們出了迦勒底人的吾珥，要往迦南地去；他們走到喀蘭，就住在那裏。他拉在世的日子共有二百零五年；他拉死在喀蘭。

我從地儘邊所抓來的，從地極角所召來的，我對你說：『你是我的僕人；我揀選了你，並不棄絕你。』

誰激動了一個人從東方而起，使他步步碰到勝利，將列國交在他面前，使他制服君王；使他用刀屠碎他們如塵土，用弓射散他們如碎稭呢？
