亞伯蘭就照耶和華的吩咐離開哈蘭，侄兒羅得與他同行。那時亞伯蘭七十五歲。亞伯蘭帶著妻子撒萊、侄兒羅得以及在哈蘭積攢的財物和所得的奴僕啟程來到迦南。到了迦南以後，

他拉帶著兒子亞伯蘭、孫子——哈蘭的兒子羅得、兒媳婦——亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊，離開迦勒底的吾珥前往迦南，他們來到哈蘭定居下來。他拉在那裡去世，享年二百零五歲。

我把你從地極帶來，從遙遠的角落召來。我對你說，『你是我的僕人，我揀選了你，沒有丟棄你。

「誰使一人從東方興起？誰憑公義把他召到跟前？誰把列國交給他，使他征服列國的君王，用刀將他們化為塵土，用弓將他們淪為風吹的碎稭？
