He was in the assembly in the wilderness, with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our ancestors; and he received living words to pass on to us.

Moses was with the Israelites in the desert. He was with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai. Moses was with our people of long ago. He received living words to pass on to us.

This is the one who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the angel who spoke to him at Mount Sinai, and with our fathers. He received living oracles to give to us.

Moses was with our ancestors, the assembly of God’s people in the wilderness, when the angel spoke to him at Mount Sinai. And there Moses received life giving words to pass on to us.

For although by this time you should be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the revelations of God. You have come to need milk, and not solid food.

Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the revelations of God.

You received the law as it was ordained by angels, and didn’t keep it!”

If anyone speaks, let it be as it were the very words of God. If anyone serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

He said to them,“ Set your heart to all the words which I testify to you today, which you shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.For it is no vain thing for you, because it is your life, and through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land, where you go over the Jordan to possess it.”

Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying,“ This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:‘ You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him.All the people answered together, and said,“ All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.Yahweh said to Moses,“ Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh.Yahweh said to Moses,“ Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,and be ready for the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying,‘ Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death.No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.He said to the people,“ Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled.Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.

Moses commanded us a law, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.

Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh your God commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land that you go over to possess;that you might fear Yahweh your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you— you, your son, and your son’s son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.Hear therefore, Israel, and observe to do it, that it may be well with you, and that you may increase mightily, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised to you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

Go near, and hear all that Yahweh our God shall say, and tell us all that Yahweh our God tells you; and we will hear it, and do it.”Yahweh heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me; and Yahweh said to me,“ I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They have well said all that they have spoken.Oh that there were such a heart in them that they would fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!“ Go tell them,‘ Return to your tents.’But as for you, stand here by me, and I will tell you all the commandments, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess.”

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.

“ When forty years were fulfilled, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush.

“ Now these are the ordinances which you shall set before them:“ If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free without paying anything.If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself. If he is married, then his wife shall go out with him.If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.But if the servant shall plainly say,‘ I love my master, my wife, and my children. I will not go out free;’then his master shall bring him to God, and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.“ If a man sells his daughter to be a female servant, she shall not go out as the male servants do.If she doesn’t please her master, who has married her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.If he marries her to his son, he shall deal with her as a daughter.If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marital rights.If he doesn’t do these three things for her, she may go free without paying any money.

For he established a covenant in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;that the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; who should arise and tell their children,that they might set their hope in God, and not forget God’s deeds, but keep his commandments,and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

Then why is there the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise has been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.

It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

“ You also came down on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments,and made known to them your holy Sabbath, and commanded them commandments, statutes, and a law, by Moses your servant,

“ This Moses, whom they refused, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and a judge?’— God has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your descendants,to love Yahweh your God, to obey his voice, and to cling to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and against Aaron, saying,“ You have killed Yahweh’s people!”When the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, they looked toward the Tent of Meeting. Behold, the cloud covered it, and Yahweh’s glory appeared.

But the righteousness which is of faith says this,“ Don’t say in your heart,‘ Who will ascend into heaven?’( that is, to bring Christ down);or,‘ Who will descend into the abyss?’( that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.)”But what does it say?“ The word is near you, in your mouth, and in your heart;” that is, the word of faith which we preach:that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation.

They said to Moses,“ Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but don’t let God speak with us, lest we die.”Moses said to the people,“ Don’t be afraid, for God has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you won’t sin.”

They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them,“ You take too much on yourself, since all the congregation are holy, everyone of them, and Yahweh is among them! Why do you lift yourselves up above Yahweh’s assembly?”When Moses heard it, he fell on his face.He said to Korah and to all his company,“ In the morning, Yahweh will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to him. Even him whom he shall choose, he will cause to come near to him.Do this: have Korah and all his company take censers,put fire in them, and put incense on them before Yahweh tomorrow. It shall be that the man whom Yahweh chooses, he shall be holy. You have gone too far, you sons of Levi!”Moses said to Korah,“ Hear now, you sons of Levi!Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of Yahweh’s tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;and that he has brought you near, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? Do you seek the priesthood also?Therefore you and all your company have gathered together against Yahweh! What is Aaron that you complain against him?”Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said,“ We won’t come up!Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must also make yourself a prince over us?Moreover you haven’t brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We won’t come up.”Moses was very angry, and said to Yahweh,“ Don’t respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them.”Moses said to Korah,“ You and all your company go before Yahweh, you, and they, and Aaron, tomorrow.Each man take his censer and put incense on it, and each man bring before Yahweh his censer, two hundred fifty censers; you also, and Aaron, each with his censer.”They each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and stood at the door of the Tent of Meeting with Moses and Aaron.Korah assembled all the congregation opposite them to the door of the Tent of Meeting. Yahweh’s glory appeared to all the congregation.Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,“ Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!”They fell on their faces, and said,“ God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?”Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,“ Speak to the congregation, saying,‘ Get away from around the tent of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram!’”Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.He spoke to the congregation, saying,“ Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins!”So they went away from the tent of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side. Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents with their wives, their sons, and their little ones.Moses said,“ Hereby you shall know that Yahweh has sent me to do all these works; for they are not from my own mind.If these men die the common death of all men, or if they experience what all men experience, then Yahweh hasn’t sent me.But if Yahweh makes a new thing, and the ground opens its mouth, and swallows them up with all that belong to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall understand that these men have despised Yahweh.”As he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split apart.The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their households, all of Korah’s men, and all their goods.So they, and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol. The earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly.All Israel that were around them fled at their cry; for they said,“ Lest the earth swallow us up!”Fire came out from Yahweh, and devoured the two hundred fifty men who offered the incense.

who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service, and the promises;

For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,

For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two- edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
