Yahweh spoke to Moses,“ Depart, go up from here, you and the people that you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying,‘ I will give it to your offspring.’

Yahweh said to Moses,“ Behold, I have made you as God to Pharaoh; and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.You shall speak all that I command you; and Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.But Pharaoh will not listen to you, so I will lay my hand on Egypt, and bring out my armies, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.The Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh when I stretch out my hand on Egypt, and bring the children of Israel out from among them.”Moses and Aaron did so. As Yahweh commanded them, so they did.Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty- three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,“ When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying,‘ Perform a miracle!’ then you shall tell Aaron,‘ Take your rod, and cast it down before Pharaoh, and it will become a serpent.’”Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, as Yahweh had commanded. Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers. They also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same thing with their enchantments.For they each cast down their rods, and they became serpents; but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken.Yahweh said to Moses,“ Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn. He refuses to let the people go.

Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it. Yahweh overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea.The waters returned, and covered the chariots and the horsemen, even all Pharaoh’s army that went in after them into the sea. There remained not so much as one of them.But the children of Israel walked on dry land in the middle of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.

They performed miracles among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.He sent darkness, and made it dark. They didn’t rebel against his words.He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish.Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the rooms of their kings.He spoke, and swarms of flies came, and lice in all their borders.He gave them hail for rain, with lightning in their land.He struck their vines and also their fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country.He spoke, and the locusts came with the grasshoppers, without number,ate up every plant in their land, and ate up the fruit of their ground.He struck also all the firstborn in their land, the first fruits of all their manhood.

The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.

Yes, when they had made themselves a molded calf, and said,‘ This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ and had committed awful blasphemies;yet you in your manifold mercies didn’t forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud didn’t depart from over them by day, to lead them in the way; neither did the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way in which they should go.You gave also your good Spirit to instruct them, and didn’t withhold your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.“ Yes, forty years you sustained them in the wilderness. They lacked nothing. Their clothes didn’t grow old, and their feet didn’t swell.Moreover you gave them kingdoms and peoples, which you allotted according to their portions. So they possessed the land of Sihon, even the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.He split the sea, and caused them to pass through. He made the waters stand as a heap.In the daytime he also led them with a cloud, and all night with a light of fire.He split rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.Yet they still went on to sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.They tempted God in their heart by asking food according to their desire.Yes, they spoke against God. They said,“ Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?”Therefore Yahweh heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, anger also went up against Israel,because they didn’t believe in God, and didn’t trust in his salvation.Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven.He rained down manna on them to eat, and gave them food from the sky.Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full.He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind.He also rained meat on them as the dust, winged birds as the sand of the seas.He let them fall in the middle of their camp, around their habitations.So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of their fattest, and struck down the young men of Israel.For all this they still sinned, and didn’t believe in his wondrous works.Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.

not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; for they didn’t continue in my covenant, and I disregarded them,” says the Lord.

Your clothing didn’t grow old on you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years.

They didn’t remember his hand, nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;how he set his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the field of Zoan,he turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink.He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.He gave also their increase to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust.He destroyed their vines with hail, their sycamore fig trees with frost.He gave over their livestock also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of angels of evil.He made a path for his anger. He didn’t spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence,and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.

The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.A fire was kindled in their company. The flame burned up the wicked.

They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;and the children of Israel said to them,“ We wish that we had died by Yahweh’s hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots, when we ate our fill of bread, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”Then Yahweh said to Moses,“ Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not.It shall come to pass on the sixth day, that they shall prepare that which they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.”Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel,“ At evening, you shall know that Yahweh has brought you out from the land of Egypt.In the morning, you shall see Yahweh’s glory; because he hears your murmurings against Yahweh. Who are we, that you murmur against us?”Moses said,“ Now Yahweh will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh.”Moses said to Aaron,“ Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel,‘ Come close to Yahweh, for he has heard your murmurings.’”As Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, Yahweh’s glory appeared in the cloud.Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,“ I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying,‘ At evening you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am Yahweh your God.’”In the evening, quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp.When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground.When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another,“ What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them,“ It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.“ This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded:‘ Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.’”The children of Israel did so, and some gathered more, some less.

All the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.All the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. The whole congregation said to them,“ We wish that we had died in the land of Egypt, or that we had died in this wilderness!Why does Yahweh bring us to this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be captured or killed! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return into Egypt?”They said to one another,“ Let’s choose a leader, and let’s return into Egypt.”Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of those who spied out the land, tore their clothes.They spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying,“ The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land.If Yahweh delights in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it to us: a land which flows with milk and honey.Only don’t rebel against Yahweh, neither fear the people of the land; for they are bread for us. Their defense is removed from over them, and Yahweh is with us. Don’t fear them.”But all the congregation threatened to stone them with stones. Yahweh’s glory appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the children of Israel.Yahweh said to Moses,“ How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?I will strike them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”Moses said to Yahweh,“ Then the Egyptians will hear it; for you brought up this people in your might from among them.They will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you Yahweh are among this people; for you Yahweh are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them, and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.Now if you killed this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying,‘ Because Yahweh was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness.’Now please let the power of the Lord be great, according as you have spoken, saying,‘ Yahweh is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and disobedience; and he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation.’Please pardon the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of your loving kindness, and just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.”Yahweh said,“ I have pardoned according to your word;but in very deed— as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with Yahweh’s glory—because all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;surely they shall not see the land which I swore to their fathers, neither shall any of those who despised me see it.But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and has followed me fully, him I will bring into the land into which he went. His offspring shall possess it.Since the Amalekite and the Canaanite dwell in the valley, tomorrow turn and go into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,“ How long shall I bear with this evil congregation that complain against me? I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel, which they complain against me.Tell them,‘ As I live, says Yahweh, surely as you have spoken in my ears, so I will do to you.Your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness; and all who were counted of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, who have complained against me,surely you shall not come into the land concerning which I swore that I would make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.But I will bring your little ones that you said should be captured or killed in, and they shall know the land which you have rejected.But as for you, your dead bodies shall fall in this wilderness.Your children shall be wanderers in the wilderness forty years, and shall bear your prostitution, until your dead bodies are consumed in the wilderness.After the number of the days in which you spied out the land, even forty days, for every day a year, you will bear your iniquities, even forty years, and you will know my alienation.’I, Yahweh, have spoken. I will surely do this to all this evil congregation who are gathered together against me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.”The men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation to murmur against him by bringing up an evil report against the land,even those men who brought up an evil report of the land, died by the plague before Yahweh.But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive of those men who went to spy out the land.Moses told these words to all the children of Israel, and the people mourned greatly.They rose up early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying,“ Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Yahweh has promised; for we have sinned.”Moses said,“ Why now do you disobey the commandment of Yahweh, since it shall not prosper?Don’t go up, for Yahweh isn’t among you; that way you won’t be struck down before your enemies.For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and you will fall by the sword because you turned back from following Yahweh; therefore Yahweh will not be with you.”But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain. Nevertheless, the ark of Yahweh’s covenant and Moses didn’t depart out of the camp.Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down, even to Hormah.

Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took some men.They rose up before Moses, with some of the children of Israel, two hundred fifty princes of the congregation, called to the assembly, men of renown.They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them,“ You take too much on yourself, since all the congregation are holy, everyone of them, and Yahweh is among them! Why do you lift yourselves up above Yahweh’s assembly?”When Moses heard it, he fell on his face.He said to Korah and to all his company,“ In the morning, Yahweh will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to him. Even him whom he shall choose, he will cause to come near to him.Do this: have Korah and all his company take censers,put fire in them, and put incense on them before Yahweh tomorrow. It shall be that the man whom Yahweh chooses, he shall be holy. You have gone too far, you sons of Levi!”Moses said to Korah,“ Hear now, you sons of Levi!Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of Yahweh’s tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;and that he has brought you near, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? Do you seek the priesthood also?Therefore you and all your company have gathered together against Yahweh! What is Aaron that you complain against him?”Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said,“ We won’t come up!Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must also make yourself a prince over us?Moreover you haven’t brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We won’t come up.”Moses was very angry, and said to Yahweh,“ Don’t respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them.”Moses said to Korah,“ You and all your company go before Yahweh, you, and they, and Aaron, tomorrow.Each man take his censer and put incense on it, and each man bring before Yahweh his censer, two hundred fifty censers; you also, and Aaron, each with his censer.”

Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power known.He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up; so he led them through the depths, as through a desert.He saved them from the hand of him who hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.The waters covered their adversaries. There was not one of them left.

The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month. The people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam died there, and was buried there.There was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.The people quarreled with Moses, and spoke, saying,“ We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Yahweh!Why have you brought Yahweh’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.”Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. Yahweh’s glory appeared to them.Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,“ Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it pour out its water. You shall bring water to them out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.”Moses took the rod from before Yahweh, as he commanded him.Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them,“ Hear now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?”Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank.Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you didn’t believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Yahweh, and he was sanctified in them.Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying:“ Your brother Israel says: You know all the travail that has happened to us;how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers.When we cried to Yahweh, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.“ Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink from the water of the wells. We will go along the king’s highway. We will not turn away to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.”Edom said to him,“ You shall not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you.”The children of Israel said to him,“ We will go up by the highway; and if we drink your water, I and my livestock, then I will give its price. Only let me, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.”He said,“ You shall not pass through.” Edom came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border, so Israel turned away from him.

He spread a cloud for a covering, fire to give light in the night.They asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of the sky.He opened the rock, and waters gushed out. They ran as a river in the dry places.For he remembered his holy word, and Abraham, his servant.He brought his people out with joy, his chosen with singing.He gave them the lands of the nations. They took the labor of the peoples in possession,that they might keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Praise Yah!

Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as you have heard, and live?Or has God tried to go and take a nation for himself from among another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, by war, by a mighty hand, by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that Yahweh your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?It was shown to you so that you might know that Yahweh is God. There is no one else besides him.Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you. On earth he made you to see his great fire; and you heard his words out of the middle of the fire.Because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their offspring after them, and brought you out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt;

Forty long years I was grieved with that generation, and said,“ It is a people that errs in their heart. They have not known my ways.”

For a period of about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness.

But God turned, and gave them up to serve the army of the sky, as it is written in the book of the prophets,‘ Did you offer to me slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

Moreover, in a pillar of cloud you led them by day; and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light in the way in which they should go.“ You also came down on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments,and made known to them your holy Sabbath, and commanded them commandments, statutes, and a law, by Moses your servant,and gave them bread from the sky for their hunger, and brought water out of the rock for them for their thirst, and commanded them that they should go in to possess the land which you had sworn to give them.

Today I will begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you on the peoples who are under the whole sky, who shall hear the report of you, and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you.”I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,“ Let me pass through your land. I will go along by the highway. I will turn neither to the right hand nor to the left.You shall sell me food for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink. Just let me pass through on my feet,as the children of Esau who dwell in Seir, and the Moabites who dwell in Ar, did to me; until I pass over the Jordan into the land which Yahweh our God gives us.”But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for Yahweh your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as it is today.Yahweh said to me,“ Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before you. Begin to possess, that you may inherit his land.”Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Jahaz.Yahweh our God delivered him up before us; and we struck him, his sons, and all his people.We took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every inhabited city, with the women and the little ones. We left no one remaining.Only the livestock we took for plunder for ourselves, with the plunder of the cities which we had taken.From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the valley, even to Gilead, there was not a city too high for us. Yahweh our God delivered up all before us.Only to the land of the children of Ammon you didn’t come near: all the banks of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill country, and wherever Yahweh our God forbade us.

The people were complaining in the ears of Yahweh. When Yahweh heard it, his anger burned; and Yahweh’s fire burned among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to Yahweh, and the fire abated.The name of that place was called Taberah, because Yahweh’s fire burned among them.The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly; and the children of Israel also wept again, and said,“ Who will give us meat to eat?We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at.”The manna was like coriander seed, and it looked like bdellium.The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil.When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, every man at the door of his tent; and Yahweh’s anger burned greatly; and Moses was displeased.Moses said to Yahweh,“ Why have you treated your servant so badly? Why haven’t I found favor in your sight, that you lay the burden of all this people on me?Have I conceived all this people? Have I brought them out, that you should tell me,‘ Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse carries a nursing infant, to the land which you swore to their fathers?’Where could I get meat to give all these people? For they weep before me, saying,‘ Give us meat, that we may eat.’I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”Yahweh said to Moses,“ Gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and officers over them; and bring them to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you don’t bear it yourself alone.“ Say to the people,‘ Sanctify yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, and you will eat meat; for you have wept in the ears of Yahweh, saying,“ Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore Yahweh will give you meat, and you will eat.You will not eat just one day, or two days, or five days, or ten days, or twenty days,but a whole month, until it comes out at your nostrils, and it is loathsome to you; because you have rejected Yahweh who is among you, and have wept before him, saying,“ Why did we come out of Egypt?”’”Moses said,“ The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said,‘ I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month.’Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?”Yahweh said to Moses,“ Has Yahweh’s hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not.”Moses went out, and told the people Yahweh’s words; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them around the Tent.Yahweh came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.But two men remained in the camp. The name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the Spirit rested on them. They were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.A young man ran, and told Moses, and said,“ Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered,“ My lord Moses, forbid them!”Moses said to him,“ Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”Moses went into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.A wind from Yahweh went out and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and a day’s journey on the other side, around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the earth.The people rose up all that day, and all of that night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails. He who gathered least gathered ten homers; and they spread them all out for themselves around the camp.While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, Yahweh’s anger burned against the people, and Yahweh struck the people with a very great plague.The name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who lusted.From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth; and they stayed at Hazeroth.

and showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, and against all his servants, and against all the people of his land; for you knew that they dealt proudly against them, and made a name for yourself, as it is today.

He struck the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and animal.He sent signs and wonders into the middle of you, Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his servants.He struck many nations, and killed mighty kings,Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan,and gave their land for a heritage, a heritage to Israel, his people.

In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that same day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.When they had departed from Rephidim, and had come to the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain.Moses went up to God, and Yahweh called to him out of the mountain, saying,“ This is what you shall tell the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:‘ You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to myself.Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him.All the people answered together, and said,“ All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.Yahweh said to Moses,“ Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh.Yahweh said to Moses,“ Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,and be ready for the third day; for on the third day Yahweh will come down in the sight of all the people on Mount Sinai.You shall set bounds to the people all around, saying,‘ Be careful that you don’t go up onto the mountain, or touch its border. Whoever touches the mountain shall be surely put to death.No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether it is animal or man, he shall not live.’ When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come up to the mountain.”Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.He said to the people,“ Be ready by the third day. Don’t have sexual relations with a woman.”On the third day, when it was morning, there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain, and the sound of an exceedingly loud trumpet; and all the people who were in the camp trembled.Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God; and they stood at the lower part of the mountain.All of Mount Sinai smoked, because Yahweh descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain. Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

When they came to Marah, they couldn’t drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.The people murmured against Moses, saying,“ What shall we drink?”Then he cried to Yahweh. Yahweh showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them.

On the day that the tabernacle was raised up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, even the Tent of the Testimony. At evening it was over the tabernacle, as it were the appearance of fire, until morning.So it was continually. The cloud covered it, and the appearance of fire by night.Whenever the cloud was taken up from over the Tent, then after that the children of Israel traveled; and in the place where the cloud remained, there the children of Israel encamped.At the commandment of Yahweh, the children of Israel traveled, and at the commandment of Yahweh they encamped. As long as the cloud remained on the tabernacle they remained encamped.When the cloud stayed on the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept Yahweh’s command, and didn’t travel.Sometimes the cloud was a few days on the tabernacle; then according to the commandment of Yahweh they remained encamped, and according to the commandment of Yahweh they traveled.Sometimes the cloud was from evening until morning; and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they traveled; or by day and by night, when the cloud was taken up, they traveled.Whether it was two days, or a month, or a year that the cloud stayed on the tabernacle, remaining on it, the children of Israel remained encamped, and didn’t travel; but when it was taken up, they traveled.At the commandment of Yahweh they encamped, and at the commandment of Yahweh they traveled. They kept Yahweh’s command, at the commandment of Yahweh by Moses.

then you shall tell your son,“ We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt. Yahweh brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;and Yahweh showed great and awesome signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his house, before our eyes;
