‘ I am the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.’ Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look more closely.

‘ I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.’ Moses trembled with fear and did not dare to look.

[ Saying], I[ am] the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

‘ I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ Moses trembled, and dared not look.

He added,“ I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living!”

Only I, Daniel, saw the vision; the men who were with me did not see it. On the contrary, they were overcome with fright and ran away to hide.I alone was left to see this great vision. My strength drained from me, and my vigor disappeared; I was without energy.

a trembling gripped me– and a terror!– and made all my bones shake.

When Elijah heard it, he covered his face with his robe and went out and stood at the entrance to the cave. All of a sudden a voice asked him,“ Why are you here, Elijah?”

But he added,“ You cannot see my face, for no one can see me and live.”

At this also my heart pounds and leaps from its place.Listen carefully to the thunder of his voice, to the rumbling that proceeds from his mouth.

“ that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”

and the LORD stood at its top. He said,“ I am the LORD, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the ground you are lying on.Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, east, north, and south. All the families of the earth will pronounce blessings on one another using your name and that of your descendants.I am with you! I will protect you wherever you go and will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you!”Then Jacob woke up and thought,“ Surely the LORD is in this place, but I did not realize it!”He was afraid and said,“ What an awesome place this is! This is nothing else than the house of God! This is the gate of heaven!”

God also said to Moses,“ You must say this to the Israelites,‘ The LORD– the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob– has sent me to you. This is my name forever, and this is my memorial from generation to generation.’

Then Joseph said to his brothers,“ I am about to die. But God will surely come to you and lead you up from this land to the land he swore on oath to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

But as it is, they aspire to a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”So he said,“ Who are you, Lord?” He replied,“ I am Jesus whom you are persecuting!But stand up and enter the city and you will be told what you must do.”

a God who is honored in the great angelic assembly, and more awesome than all who surround him?

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying,“ Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!”

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate after he had decided to release him.

In the year of King Uzziah’s death, I saw the sovereign master seated on a high, elevated throne. The hem of his robe filled the temple.Seraphs stood over him; each one had six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and they used the remaining two to fly.They called out to one another,“ Holy, holy, holy is the Lord who commands armies! His majestic splendor fills the entire earth!”The sound of their voices shook the door frames, and the temple was filled with smoke.I said,“ Too bad for me! I am destroyed, for my lips are contaminated by sin, and I live among people whose lips are contaminated by sin. My eyes have seen the king, the LORD who commands armies.”

I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye has seen you.Therefore I despise myself, and I repent in dust and ashes!

When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground.

When I saw him I fell down at his feet as though I were dead, but he placed his right hand on me and said:“ Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,
