He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed.

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

And he blessed Joseph and said,“ The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day,the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the boys; and in them let my name be carried on, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”

And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying,‘ I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?

Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.

“ But as the time of the promise drew near, which God had granted to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt

And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heavenand said,“ By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies,and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

And he said,“ I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them.

But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be a people of his own inheritance, as you are this day.

The angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, the spring on the way to Shur.And he said,“ Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?” She said,“ I am fleeing from my mistress Sarai.”The angel of the Lord said to her,“ Return to your mistress and submit to her.”The angel of the Lord also said to her,“ I will surely multiply your offspring so that they cannot be numbered for multitude.”And the angel of the Lord said to her,“ Behold, you are pregnant and shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because the Lord has listened to your affliction.He shall be a wild donkey of a man, his hand against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he shall dwell over against all his kinsmen.”So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her,“ You are a God of seeing,” for she said,“ Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.”

In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he strove with God.He strove with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought his favor. He met God at Bethel, and there God spoke with us—the Lord, the God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial name:

And he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mount of God.

And Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day.When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.Then he said,“ Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said,“ I will not let you go unless you bless me.”And he said to him,“ What is your name?” And he said,“ Jacob.”Then he said,“ Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.”Then Jacob asked him,“ Please tell me your name.” But he said,“ Why is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him.So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying,“ For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.

with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness and the favor of him who dwells in the bush. May these rest on the head of Joseph, on the pate of him who is prince among his brothers.

‘ I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob.’ And Moses trembled and did not dare to look.

On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.They set out from Rephidim and came into the wilderness of Sinai, and they encamped in the wilderness. There Israel encamped before the mountain,

“ Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts.

But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.
