“ As the time drew near when God would fulfill his promise to Abraham, the number of our people in Egypt greatly increased.

“及至神应许亚伯拉罕的日期将到，以色列民在埃及兴盛众多，

“当上帝应许亚伯拉罕的日期将到的时候，以色列人在埃及人丁兴旺，

“当神应许亚伯拉罕的日期将到的时候，以色列人在埃及人丁兴旺，

“上帝对亚伯拉罕所应许的日子快到的时侯，以色列人在埃及的人口已大大增加。

“神给亚伯拉罕的应许快要实现的时候，以色列人在埃及人口繁盛增多；

“随着神向亚伯拉罕所宣告的那应许时期临近，以色列子民在埃及兴旺、增多，

「及至神應許亞伯拉罕的日期將到，以色列民在埃及興盛眾多，

「當神應許亞伯拉罕的日期將到的時候，以色列人在埃及人丁興旺，

“神給亞伯拉罕的應許快要實現的時候，以色列人在埃及人口繁盛增多；

『當應許的時期、上帝向亞伯拉罕所公然應許的、將近實現的時候、人民在埃及興盛加多，

「隨著神向亞伯拉罕所宣告的那應許時期臨近，以色列子民在埃及興旺、增多，

迨上帝許亞伯拉罕之期已近、民於埃及、滋生蕃衍、

迨上帝誓許亞伯拉罕之期近、我民居埃及者蕃衍、

天主立誓許亞伯拉罕之言、將驗之期、以色列民在伊及增益蕃多、

迨天主所許於亞伯漢者之期將屆、義塞人在埃及日漸蕃衍；

“ As the time drew near for God to fulfill his promise to Abraham, the number of our people in Egypt had greatly increased.

“ In Egypt the number of our people grew and grew. It was nearly time for God to make his promise to Abraham come true.

“ But as the time of the promise drew near, which God had granted to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt

“ As the time was approaching to fulfill the promise that God had made to Abraham, the people flourished and multiplied in Egypt

“ But as the time of the promise which God had assured to Abraham was approaching, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,

“ But when the time of the promise drew near which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt

But as the time of the promise drew nigh which God vouchsafed unto Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

“ As the time was drawing near to fulfill the promise that God had made to Abraham, the people flourished and multiplied in Egypt

But when the time of the promise drew nigh, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

“ But as the time drew near for God to fulfill the promise he had declared to Abraham, the people increased greatly in number in Egypt,

“ But as the time of the promise came close which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

“ The God of this nation of Israel chose our ancestors and made them multiply and grow strong during their stay in Egypt. Then with a powerful arm he led them out of their slavery.

God also told him that his descendants would live in a foreign land, where they would be oppressed as slaves for 400 years.

So God was good to the midwives, and the Israelites continued to multiply, growing more and more powerful.

And the Lord multiplied the people of Israel until they became too mighty for their enemies.Then he turned the Egyptians against the Israelites, and they plotted against the Lord’s servants.

But their descendants, the Israelites, had many children and grandchildren. In fact, they multiplied so greatly that they became extremely powerful and filled the land.Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done.He said to his people,“ Look, the people of Israel now outnumber us and are stronger than we are.We must make a plan to keep them from growing even more. If we don’t, and if war breaks out, they will join our enemies and fight against us. Then they will escape from the country.”So the Egyptians made the Israelites their slaves. They appointed brutal slave drivers over them, hoping to wear them down with crushing labor. They forced them to build the cities of Pithom and Rameses as supply centers for the king.But the more the Egyptians oppressed them, the more the Israelites multiplied and spread, and the more alarmed the Egyptians became.

But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

Then the Lord said to Abram,“ You can be sure that your descendants will be strangers in a foreign land, where they will be oppressed as slaves for 400 years.But I will punish the nation that enslaves them, and in the end they will come away with great wealth.( As for you, you will die in peace and be buried at a ripe old age.)After four generations your descendants will return here to this land, for the sins of the Amorites do not yet warrant their destruction.”
