十二宗徒因召同人至、曰：『為几筵之事而曠傳道之職、非所宜也。

So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said,“ It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.

So the 12 apostles gathered all the believers together. They said,“ It wouldn’t be right for us to give up teaching God’s word. And we’d have to stop teaching to wait on tables.

And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said,“ It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables.

So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said,“ We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program.

The Twelve summoned the whole company of the disciples and said,“ It would not be right for us to give up preaching the word of God to wait on tables.

So the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said,“ It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables.

Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said,“ It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.

And the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not fit that we should forsake the word of God, and serve tables.

Then the Twelve summoned the whole company of the disciples and said,“ It would not be right for us to give up preaching about God to handle financial matters.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples[ unto them], and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

So the twelve called the whole group of the disciples together and said,“ It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to wait on tables.

The twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said,“ It is not appropriate for us to forsake the word of God and serve tables.

Moses’ father-in-law replied,“ What you are doing is not good.You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone.Listen now to me and I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people’s representative before God and bring their disputes to him.Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave.But select capable men from all the people— men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain— and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you.If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied.”Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said.He chose capable men from all Israel and made them leaders of the people, officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.They served as judges for the people at all times. The difficult cases they brought to Moses, but the simple ones they decided themselves. (niv)

At that time I said to you,“ You are too heavy a burden for me to carry alone.The Lord your God has increased your numbers so that today you are as numerous as the stars in the sky.May the Lord, the God of your ancestors, increase you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised!But how can I bear your problems and your burdens and your disputes all by myself?Choose some wise, understanding and respected men from each of your tribes, and I will set them over you.”You answered me,“ What you propose to do is good.” (niv)

No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. (niv)

He asked the Lord,“ Why have you brought this trouble on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me?Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant, to the land you promised on oath to their ancestors?Where can I get meat for all these people? They keep wailing to me,‘ Give us meat to eat!’ (niv)

so I sent messengers to them with this reply:“ I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?” (niv)

For I think it is unreasonable to send a prisoner on to Rome without specifying the charges against him.” (niv)

What shall we do? They will certainly hear that you have come, (niv)

But Peter and John replied,“ Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! (niv)
