“ I will come to you in judgment. I will be quick to testify against those who practice divination, those who commit adultery, those who break promises, and those who exploit workers, widows, and orphans, who refuse to help the immigrant and in this way show they do not fear me,” says the LORD who rules over all.

Out of those places you will hear songs of thanksgiving and the sounds of laughter and merriment. I will increase their number and they will not dwindle away. I will bring them honor and they will no longer be despised.

And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel.

Or do you think the scripture means nothing when it says,“ The spirit that God caused to live within us has an envious yearning”?

No widow should be put on the list unless she is at least sixty years old, was the wife of one husband,

But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they should first learn to fulfill their duty toward their own household and so repay their parents what is owed them. For this is what pleases God.But the widow who is truly in need, and completely on her own, has set her hope on God and continues in her pleas and prayers night and day.
