The earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly.All Israel that were around them fled at their cry; for they said,“ Lest the earth swallow us up!”

Yes, I beg you that I may not, when present, show courage with the confidence with which I intend to be bold against some, who consider us to be walking according to the flesh.For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh;for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds,throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience is made full.

The third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and begged him, and said to him,“ Man of God, please let my life, and the life of these fifty of your servants, be precious in your sight.Behold, fire came down from the sky, and consumed the last two captains of fifty with their fifties. But now let my life be precious in your sight.”

All Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall not do any more wickedness like this among you.

For because you didn’t carry it at first, Yahweh our God broke out in anger against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”
