The teachers of religious law and the leading priests wanted to arrest Jesus immediately because they realized he was telling the story against them— they were the wicked farmers. But they were afraid of the people’s reaction.

The crowd listened until Paul said that word. Then they all began to shout,“ Away with such a fellow! He isn’t fit to live!”

Hide me from the plots of this evil mob, from this gang of wrongdoers.They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows.They shoot from ambush at the innocent, attacking suddenly and fearlessly.They encourage each other to do evil and plan how to set their traps in secret.“ Who will ever notice?” they ask.As they plot their crimes, they say,“ We have devised the perfect plan!” Yes, the human heart and mind are cunning.But God himself will shoot them with his arrows, suddenly striking them down.Their own tongues will ruin them, and all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.

The wicked wait in ambush for the godly, looking for an excuse to kill them.But the Lord will not let the wicked succeed or let the godly be condemned when they are put on trial.

At this, the enemies of Jesus were wild with rage and began to discuss what to do with him.
