They brought the apostles to the Sanhedrin. The high priest questioned them.

The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest.

At dawn the elders of the people met together. These included the chief priests and the teachers of the law. Jesus was led to them.

The commanding officer wanted to find out exactly what the Jews had against Paul. So the next day he let Paul out of prison. He ordered a meeting of the chief priests and all the members of the Sanhedrin. Then he brought Paul and had him stand in front of them.Paul looked straight at the Sanhedrin.“ My brothers,” he said,“ I have always done my duty to God. To this day I feel that I have done nothing wrong.”

So the people were stirred up. The elders and the teachers of the law were stirred up too. They arrested Stephen and brought him to the Sanhedrin.

They had Peter and John brought to them. They wanted to question them.“ By what power did you do this?” they asked.“ And through whose name?”
