Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we would look at Him, Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him.

Then say to him,‘ The Lord of armies says this:“ Behold, there is a Man whose name is Branch, for He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of the Lord.Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the Lord, and He who will bear the majesty and sit and rule on His throne. So He will be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two offices.” ’

And He was saying,“ How shall we picture the kingdom of God, or by what parable shall we present it?It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil, though it is the smallest of all the seeds that are upon the soil,yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants, and forms large branches, with the result that the birds of the sky can nest under its shade.”

Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council meeting, and they were saying,“ What are we doing in regard to the fact that this man is performing many signs?If we let Him go on like this, all the people will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take over both our place and our nation.”

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.Just as you saw that a stone was broken off from the mountain without hands, and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will take place in the future; so the dream is certain and its interpretation is trustworthy.”

And he left and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he was to betray Him to them.

saying,“ What are we to do with these men? For the fact that a noteworthy miracle has taken place through them is apparent to all who live in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.But so that it will not spread any further among the people, let’s warn them not to speak any longer to any person in this name.”

So the Pharisees said to one another,“ You see that you are not accomplishing anything; look, the world has gone after Him!”

You continued watching until a stone was broken off without hands, and it struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and crushed them.Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed to pieces all at the same time, and they were like chaff from the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them was found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the entire earth.

And Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against a man inciting a revolt?

When they had threatened them further, they let them go( finding no basis on which to punish them) on account of the people, because they were all glorifying God for what had happened;
