對他說：『萬軍之耶和華如此說：看哪，那名字稱為「苗裔」的人，必從自己的地方長出，並要建造耶和華的聖殿；是他要建造耶和華的聖殿，並要束上尊榮，坐在寶座上掌權，也在寶座上作祭司；兩職之間必有和平的謀略。

耶穌又說：「我們把神的國比做什麼呢？用什麼比喻來表明它呢？它好像一粒芥菜種子，被種入地裡的時候，比地上所有的種子更小，可是被種下去以後，它就長起來，長得比所有蔬菜更大，並且長出大枝子，以致天空的飛鳥能在它的蔭下搭窩。」

於是祭司長們和法利賽人召集了議會，說：「這個人行了很多神蹟，我們該做什麼呢？如果任憑他這樣下去，大家都會信他，羅馬人就會來，奪取我們的聖地和國家！」

「這些君王年間，天上的神必立起一個永不毀滅的國度，這國度不會交給別的民族，卻會砸碎、終結所有這些國，而它會存到永遠，就像你看到那塊從山而出、非人手鑿出的石頭，砸碎了鐵、銅、泥、銀、金那樣。偉大的神已經給王顯明了此後將要發生的事。這夢是確實的，夢的釋義也是可靠的。」

他去跟祭司長們和守衛長們商量怎樣把耶穌交給他們。

說：「我們該怎麼處理這些人呢？藉著他們，確實發生了一個明顯的神蹟，所有住在耶路撒冷的人都清清楚楚；我們也不能否認。不過為了避免這事在民間傳揚更廣，讓我們威嚇他們，不可再奉耶穌的名對任何人講話。」

於是法利賽人互相說：「可見你們真沒用！看，這世界都跟隨他去了。」

你繼續觀看，有一塊非人手鑿出的石頭，砸在這像的鐵和泥的腳上，把腳砸碎了。這樣，鐵、泥、銅、銀、金都一同被砸得粉碎了，就像夏天打穀場上的糠秕，被風吹散，無蹤跡可尋；但砸這像的石頭卻變成一座大山，充滿全地。

耶穌對前來對付他的祭司長們、聖殿守衛長們和長老們說：「你們帶著刀劍和棍棒出來，就像對付強盜那樣嗎？

官長們又威嚇他們一番，為了民眾的緣故把他們釋放了。官長們找不出任何理由來懲罰他們，因為眾人都為所發生的事不住地榮耀神。
