誰會相信我們所傳的？耶和華的膀臂向誰顯露呢？他在耶和華面前如嫩芽生長起來，像根出於乾旱之地；他沒有佳形，也沒有威儀，好叫我們仰慕他；他也沒有美貌，使我們被他吸引。

告訴他說：‘萬軍之耶和華這樣說：看哪！有一個人名叫大衛的苗裔，他必從自己的地方生長起來，並要建造耶和華的殿。他必建造耶和華的殿，必得尊榮；他必坐在寶座上執掌王權，又必在他的寶座上作祭司，使兩者之間和諧共濟。’”

又說：“我們要把神的國比作甚麼呢？我們可以用甚麼比喻來形容它呢？它好像一粒芥菜種，剛種下去的時候，比地上的一切種子都小，種下以後，生長起來，卻比一切蔬菜都大，長出大枝子，甚至天空的飛鳥都可以在它的蔭下搭窩。”

於是祭司長和法利賽人召開公議會，說：“這個人行了許多神蹟，我們怎麼辦呢？我們若讓他這樣，所有的人都會信他，羅馬人就會來，奪取我們的聖地，除滅我們的民族。”

那些王在位的時候，天上的神必興起另一個永不滅亡的國，國權必不歸給別族的人。這國必砸碎毀滅其他各國；並且這國必存到永遠。正如你看見那塊從山而出，非人手鑿成的石頭，把鐵、銅、泥、銀和金都砸碎了，偉大的神已把日後必有的結局都告訴王了。這夢是確實的，夢的意思也是準確的。”

他去與祭司長和守殿官商量怎樣把耶穌交給他們。

說：“對這些人我們應該怎麼辦呢？因為有一件人所共知的神蹟，藉著他們行了出來，所有住在耶路撒冷的人都知道，我們也無法否認。為了避免這件事在民間越傳越廣，我們應該警告他們，不許再奉這名向任何人談道。”

於是法利賽人彼此說：“你們看，你們都是徒勞無功，世人都去跟隨他了！”

你正觀看的時候，有一塊非人手鑿成的石頭，擊在那座大像鐵和泥混雜的腳上，把腳砸碎了。於是鐵、泥、銅、銀、金都一同砸得粉碎，好像夏天禾場上的糠秕，被風吹散，無處可尋；那打碎這像的石頭卻變成一座大山，充滿全地。

耶穌對那些前來捉拿他的祭司長、守殿官和長老說：“你們帶著刀棒出來，把我當作強盜捉拿嗎？

眾人因著所發生的事，都頌讚神，於是公議會為了群眾的緣故，也因為找不到藉口懲罰他們，就恐嚇一番，把他們放了。
