Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.

The high priest and all his companions were Sadducees. They were very jealous of the apostles.

「先祖嫉妒約瑟，把他賣到埃及去，上帝卻與他同在，

但不信的猶太人心裏嫉妒，聚集了些市井流氓，搭夥成羣，煽動全城的人闖進耶孫的家，要把保羅和西拉帶到民眾那裏。

但猶太人看見這麼多的人，就滿心嫉妒，辯駁保羅所說的話，並且毀謗他。

我見人因彼此嫉妒而有一切的勞碌和各樣工作的成就，這也是虛空，也是捕風。

列國為甚麼爭鬧？萬民為甚麼圖謀虛妄？世上的君王都站穩，臣宰一同算計，要對抗耶和華，對抗他的受膏者：「我們要掙脫他們的捆綁，脫去他們的繩索。」

掃羅懼怕大衛，因為耶和華離開自己，與大衛同在。所以掃羅叫大衛離開自己，立他為千夫長，他就領兵出入。大衛所做的每一件事都精明，耶和華也與他同在。掃羅見大衛做事精明，就更怕他。但以色列和猶大眾人都愛大衛，因為他領他們出入。

總督原知道他們是因為嫉妒才把他解了來。

祭司長和法利賽人召開議會，說：「這人行好些神蹟，我們怎麼辦呢？若讓他這樣做，人人都要信他；羅馬人也要來毀滅我們的聖殿和我們的民族。」其中有一個人，名叫該亞法，那年當大祭司，對他們說：「你們甚麼都不知道，

憤怒害死愚妄人，嫉妒殺死愚蠢的人。

憤怒為殘忍，怒氣像狂瀾，惟有嫉妒，誰能擋得住呢？

於是眾祭司長商議連拉撒路也要殺了，

平靜的心使肉體有生氣；嫉妒使骨頭朽爛。

地上的君王都站穩，臣宰也聚集一處，要對抗主，對抗主的受膏者。』

你們心裏若懷着惡毒的嫉妒和自私，就不可自誇，不可說謊話抵擋真理。這樣的智慧不是從上頭下來的，而是屬地上的，屬情慾的，屬鬼魔的。在何處有嫉妒、自私，在何處就有動亂和各樣的壞事。

法利賽人彼此說：「你們看，你們一事無成，世人都隨着他去了。」

惟有幾個法利賽派的信徒起來，說：「必須給外邦人行割禮，吩咐他們遵守摩西的律法。」

經上說：「上帝愛安置在我們裏面的靈，愛到嫉妒的地步。」你們以為這話是徒然的嗎？

彼得和約翰正向百姓說話的時候，祭司們、守殿官和撒都該人來了，就很煩惱，因為使徒們教導百姓，傳揚在耶穌的事上證明有死人復活，

所以，你們要除去一切的惡毒，一切詭詐、假善、嫉妒，和一切毀謗的話。

嫉妒、醉酒、荒宴等類。我從前告訴過你們，現在又告訴你們，做這樣事的人必不能承受上帝的國。

又有亞那大祭司、該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大，和大祭司的親族都在那裏。

保羅看出他們一部分是撒都該人，一部分是法利賽人，就在議會中喊着：「諸位弟兄，我是法利賽人，也是法利賽人的子孫。我現在受審問是為有關死人復活的盼望。」說了這話，法利賽人和撒都該人爭論起來，會眾分為兩派。因為撒都該人一方面說沒有復活，另一方面沒有天使和鬼魂；法利賽人卻承認兩方面都有。
