Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy.

David led the army out to battle and back.Now David achieved success in all he did, for the LORD was with him.When Saul saw how very successful he was, he was afraid of him.But all Israel and Judah loved David, for he was the one leading them out to battle and back.

( For he knew that they had handed him over because of envy.)

So the chief priests and the Pharisees called the council together and said,“ What are we doing? For this man is performing many miraculous signs.If we allow him to go on in this way, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away our sanctuary and our nation.”Then one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said,“ You know nothing at all!

For wrath kills the foolish person, and anger slays the silly one.

Wrath is cruel and anger is overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?

So the chief priests planned to kill Lazarus too,

A tranquil spirit revives the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones.

The kings of the earth stood together, and the rulers assembled together, against the Lord and against his Christ.’

But if you have bitter jealousy and selfishness in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth.Such wisdom does not come from above but is earthly, natural, demonic.For where there is jealousy and selfishness, there is disorder and every evil practice.

Thus the Pharisees said to one another,“ You see that you can do nothing. Look, the world has run off after him!”

But some from the religious party of the Pharisees who had believed stood up and said,“ It is necessary to circumcise the Gentiles and to order them to observe the law of Moses.”

Or do you think the scripture means nothing when it says,“ The spirit that God caused to live within us has an envious yearning”?

While Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests and the commander of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,angry because they were teaching the people and announcing in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.

envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things. I am warning you, as I had warned you before: Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God!

Annas the high priest was there, and Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and others who were members of the high priest’s family.

Then when Paul noticed that part of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, he shouted out in the council,“ Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. I am on trial concerning the hope of the resurrection of the dead!”When he said this, an argument began between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.( For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection, or angel, or spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.)
