Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas( which means“ son of encouragement”),

Then the rest of the Jews joined his hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.

They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed off to Cyprus.

When James, Cephas, and John— those recognized as pillars— acknowledged the grace that had been given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to me and Barnabas, agreeing that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

Or do only Barnabas and I have no right to refrain from working?

After they had completed their relief mission, Barnabas and Saul returned to Jerusalem, taking along John who was called Mark.Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

They did this, sending it to the elders by means of Barnabas and Saul.

Some of the disciples from Caesarea also went with us and brought us to Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we were to stay.

After Paul and Barnabas had engaged them in serious argument and debate, Paul and Barnabas and some others were appointed to go up to the apostles and elders in Jerusalem about this issue.

Barnabas, however, took him and brought him to the apostles and explained to them how Saul had seen the Lord on the road and that the Lord had talked to him, and how in Damascus he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.

News about them reached the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to travel as far as Antioch.When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged all of them to remain true to the Lord with devoted hearts,for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And large numbers of people were added to the Lord.Then he went to Tarsus to search for Saul,

Now those who had been scattered as a result of the persecution that started because of Stephen made their way as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.But there were some of them, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.

The whole assembly became silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul describe all the signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.

Barnabas wanted to take along John who was called Mark.
