耶和華的聖者們哪，你們當敬畏他！因為敬畏他的人一無所缺。少壯獅子也會疲乏、飢餓，但尋求耶和華的什麼福份都不缺。

我告訴你們：要藉著那不義的財富為自己結交朋友，這樣當財富無用的時候，你們會被接到永恆的居所裡。

你們當賣掉自己所擁有的，施捨給人，為自己預備不會破舊的錢包和沒有窮盡的財寶在天上；在那裡盜賊不能靠近，也沒有蟲咬蝕。

接著耶穌問他們：「我從前差派你們出去的時候，你們不帶錢包、行囊、鞋子，你們缺少過什麼沒有？」他們說：「沒有。」

耶穌對他說：「如果你想要成為完全的，就當去賣掉你所擁有的，分給窮人，這樣你將有財寶在天上；然後你來跟從我。」

耶穌注視著他，就愛他，對他說：「你還缺少一件：去賣掉你所擁有的，分給窮人，這樣你將有財寶在天上；然後你來跟從我。」

為著那將要來臨的，給自己積存美好的基礎，使他們抓住那真正的生命。

在父神看來，純潔而沒有玷汙的虔誠是這樣的：照顧患難中的孤兒寡婦，並且保守自己不受世界的玷汙。

他有一塊田地，也賣掉了，把錢拿來放在使徒們的腳前。有一個名叫阿納尼亞的人，和他的妻子薩菲拉賣掉了財產。但他從價款中私自留下了一部分，把一部分拿來放在使徒們的腳前；他的妻子也知道這事。彼得就說：「阿納尼亞，為什麼撒旦充滿了你的心，使你對聖靈說謊，從田產的價款中私自留下一些呢？

好使你們在外人面前能夠行事端正，不會有什麼缺乏。
