文士和祭司长看出这比喻是指着他们说的，当时就想要下手拿他，只是惧怕百姓。

他们想要捉拿他，只是怕众人，因为众人以他为先知。

若说‘从人间来’，百姓都要用石头打死我们，因为他们信约翰是先知。”

只是说：“当节的日子不可，恐怕民间生乱。”

耶稣天天在殿里教训人。祭司长和文士与百姓的尊长都想要杀他，但寻不出法子来，因为百姓都侧耳听他。

众人因听见耶稣行了这神迹，就去迎接他。法利赛人彼此说：“看哪，你们是徒劳无益，世人都随从他去了。”

甚至众人都希奇；因为看见哑巴说话，残疾的痊愈，瘸子行走，瞎子看见，他们就归荣耀给以色列的神。

公会的人听从了他，便叫使徒来，把他们打了，又吩咐他们不可奉耶稣的名讲道，就把他们释放了。

彼得说：“金银我都没有，只把我所有的给你：我奉拿撒勒人耶稣基督的名，叫你起来行走！”于是拉着他的右手，扶他起来；他的脚和踝子骨立刻健壮了，就跳起来，站着，又行走，同他们进了殿，走着，跳着，赞美神。百姓都看见他行走，赞美神；

鬼被赶出去，哑巴就说出话来。众人都希奇，说：“在以色列中，从来没有见过这样的事。”

众人都惊奇，也归荣耀与神，并且满心惧怕，说：“我们今日看见非常的事了。”

惟恐这事越发传扬在民间，我们必须恐吓他们，叫他们不再奉这名对人讲论。”

耶稣说这话，他的敌人都惭愧了；众人因他所行一切荣耀的事，就都欢喜了。
