如果我們說：‘是從人來的’，眾人都會用石頭打我們，因為他們都認定約翰是先知。”

不過他們說：“不可在節期下手，免得引起民眾暴動。”

他天天在聖殿裡教導人，祭司長、經學家和民間的首領，都想殺害他；但他們不知道要怎樣下手，因為眾人都圍著他，聽他的教訓。

群眾因為聽見他行了這神蹟，就去迎接他。於是法利賽人彼此說：“你們看，你們都是徒勞無功，世人都去跟隨他了！”

群眾看見啞巴說話，殘廢的復原，瘸腿的行走，瞎眼的看見，就十分驚奇，於是頌讚以色列的神。

就傳使徒進來，鞭打一頓，禁止他們奉耶穌的名傳講，就把他們釋放了。

彼得卻說：“金銀我都沒有，只把我有的給你：我奉拿撒勒人耶穌基督的名，吩咐你行走！”於是拉著他的右手，扶他起來；他的腳和踝骨立刻強壯有力，他一跳就站了起來，並且行走。他連走帶跳，讚美神，同他們進入殿中。群眾看見他一邊走一邊讚美神；

耶穌把鬼趕走之後，啞巴就說話了。眾人都很驚奇，說：“這樣的事，在以色列從來沒有見過。”

眾人都驚奇，頌讚神，並且十分懼怕，說：“我們今天看見了不平常的事。”

為了避免這件事在民間越傳越廣，我們應該警告他們，不許再奉這名向任何人談道。”

他說完了這些話，那些與他為敵的人都慚愧；群眾卻都因他所行一切榮耀的事歡喜。
