如果我们说：‘是从人来的’，众人都会用石头打我们，因为他们都认定约翰是先知。”

不过他们说：“不可在节期下手，免得引起民众暴动。”

他天天在圣殿里教导人，祭司长、经学家和民间的首领，都想杀害他；但他们不知道要怎样下手，因为众人都围着他，听他的教训。

群众因为听见他行了这神迹，就去迎接他。于是法利赛人彼此说：“你们看，你们都是徒劳无功，世人都去跟随他了！”

群众看见哑巴说话，残废的复原，瘸腿的行走，瞎眼的看见，就十分惊奇，于是颂赞以色列的神。

就传使徒进来，鞭打一顿，禁止他们奉耶稣的名传讲，就把他们释放了。

彼得却说：“金银我都没有，只把我有的给你：我奉拿撒勒人耶稣基督的名，吩咐你行走！”于是拉着他的右手，扶他起来；他的脚和踝骨立刻强壮有力，他一跳就站了起来，并且行走。他连走带跳，赞美神，同他们进入殿中。群众看见他一边走一边赞美神；

耶稣把鬼赶走之后，哑巴就说话了。众人都很惊奇，说：“这样的事，在以色列从来没有见过。”

众人都惊奇，颂赞神，并且十分惧怕，说：“我们今天看见了不平常的事。”

为了避免这件事在民间越传越广，我们应该警告他们，不许再奉这名向任何人谈道。”

他说完了这些话，那些与他为敌的人都惭愧；群众却都因他所行一切荣耀的事欢喜。
