Utterly amazed, they asked:“ Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome( both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs— we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another,“ What does this mean?” (niv)

After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter and said,“ Surely you are one of them; your accent gives you away.” (niv)

Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled.But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome. (niv)

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.“ Come, follow me,” Jesus said,“ and I will send you out to fish for people.”At once they left their nets and followed him.Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them,and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. (niv)

Then he went out to the gateway, where another servant girl saw him and said to the people there,“ This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth.” (niv)

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him,“ Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs?Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour— when darkness reigns.”Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance. (niv)

A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said,“ This man was with him.”But he denied it.“ Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.A little later someone else saw him and said,“ You also are one of them.”“ Man, I am not!” Peter replied.About an hour later another asserted,“ Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”Peter replied,“ Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed.
