After a little while those standing there approached and said to Peter,“ You certainly are one of them, since even your accent gives you away.”

But Peter remained standing outside by the door. So the other disciple, the one known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the girl who was the doorkeeper and brought Peter in.Then the slave girl who was the doorkeeper said to Peter,“ You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too, are you?”“ I am not!” he said.

As He was walking along the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, since they were fishermen.“ Follow Me,” He told them,“ and I will make you fish for people!”Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and He called them.Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Him.

When he had gone out to the gateway, another woman saw him and told those who were there,“ This man was with Jesus the Nazarene!”

When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple He loved standing there, He said to His mother,“ Woman, here is your son.”

But this crowd, which doesn’t know the law, is accursed!”

Jesus sent Peter and John, saying,“ Go and prepare the Passover meal for us, so we can eat it.”

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, temple police, and the elders who had come for Him,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs as if I were a criminal?Every day while I was with you in the temple complex, you never laid a hand on Me. But this is your hour— and the dominion of darkness.”They seized Him, led Him away, and brought Him into the high priest’s house. Meanwhile Peter was following at a distance.

When a servant saw him sitting in the firelight, and looked closely at him, she said,“ This man was with Him too.”But he denied it:“ Woman, I don’t know Him!”After a little while, someone else saw him and said,“ You’re one of them too!”“ Man, I am not!” Peter said.About an hour later, another kept insisting,“ This man was certainly with Him, since he’s also a Galilean.”But Peter said,“ Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
