他去跟祭司长和守殿官商量怎样把耶稣交给他们。

他们又煽动百姓、长老和文士，就突然来捉拿他，把他带到议会去，

保罗看出他们一部分是撒都该人，一部分是法利赛人，就在议会中喊着：“诸位弟兄，我是法利赛人，也是法利赛人的子孙。我现在受审问是为有关死人复活的盼望。”说了这话，法利赛人和撒都该人争论起来，会众分为两派。因为撒都该人一方面说没有复活，另一方面没有天使和鬼魂；法利赛人却承认两方面都有。于是大大地争吵起来；有几个法利赛派的文士站起来争辩说：“我们看不出这人有什么错处；说不定有鬼魂或者天使对他说过话呢！”

那天，撒都该人来见耶稣。他们说没有复活这回事，于是问耶稣：“老师，摩西说：‘某人若死了，没有孩子，他弟弟该娶他的妻子，为哥哥生子立后。’

约翰看见许多法利赛人和撒都该人也来受洗，就对他们说：“毒蛇的孽种啊，谁指示你们逃避那将要来的愤怒呢？

于是守殿官和差役去带使徒来，并没有用暴力，因为怕百姓用石头打他们。

守殿官和祭司长听了这些话，心里困惑，不知这事将来如何。

犹大领了一队兵，以及祭司长和法利赛人的圣殿警卫，拿着灯笼、火把和兵器来到园里。

祭司长和长老挑唆众人，要求释放巴拉巴，除掉耶稣。

你们要这样做：在安息日值班的祭司和利未人，三分之一要把守各门，三分之一要在王宫，三分之一要在根基门；众百姓都要在耶和华殿的院内。除了祭司和供职的利未人之外，不准别人进耶和华的殿；只有他们可以进去，因为他们是神圣的。众百姓都要遵守耶和华所吩咐的。利未人要手中各拿兵器，四围保护王；凡擅自进殿的，要被处死。王出入的时候，你们当跟随他。”利未人和犹大众人都照着耶何耶大祭司一切所吩咐的去做，各带自己的人，无论安息日值班或不值班的都来，因为耶何耶大祭司不许他们下班。耶何耶大祭司就把神殿里所藏大卫王的枪和大小盾牌交给百夫长，

神的道兴旺起来；在耶路撒冷门徒数目增加得很多，也有许多祭司听从了这信仰。

到了早晨，众祭司长和百姓的长老商议要处死耶稣，就把他绑着，解去，交给彼拉多总督。

那时，祭司长和百姓的长老聚集在那称为该亚法的大祭司的院里。大家商议要设计捉拿耶稣，把他杀掉。

众祭司长、文士和长老也同样嘲笑他，说：

门徒这才明白他所说的不是要他们防备饼的酵，而是要防备法利赛人和撒都该人的教训。

就打发他们的门徒同希律党人去见耶稣，说：“老师，我们知道你是诚实的，并且诚诚实实传神的道，无论谁你都一视同仁，因为你不看人的面子。

又有亚那大祭司、该亚法、约翰、亚历山大，和大祭司的亲族都在那里。

你们要记得我对你们说过的话：‘仆人不大于主人。’他们若迫害了我，也会迫害你们，他们若遵守了我的话，也会遵守你们的话。
