他去跟祭司长们和守卫长们商量怎样把耶稣交给他们。

他们又煽动民众、长老和经文士们就忽然来抓住司提反，把他带到议会，

保罗知道有一部分人是撒都该人，另一部分是法利赛人，就在议会中喊着：“各位兄弟，我是法利赛人，也是法利赛人的儿子。我现在受审，是与死人复活的盼望有关。”他说了这话，法利赛人和撒都该人就起了争执，会众也分裂了。原来撒都该人说没有复活，没有天使，也没有灵，但法利赛人却承认这一切。于是他们大大地喧嚷起来。有些法利赛派的经文士们站起来激烈地争辩，说：“我们查不出这个人有什么错。也许有灵或天使对他说过话呢！”

在那一天，撒都该人来到耶稣那里，他们一向说没有复活的事。他们问耶稣，说：“老师，摩西说：如果一个人死了，没有儿女，他的一个兄弟就要娶他的妻子，为他兄弟留后裔。

约翰看见许多法利赛人和撒都该人也来要受他的洗礼，就对他们说：“你们这些毒蛇的子孙！谁指示你们逃避那将要来临的震怒呢？

于是守卫长与差役们一起去把使徒们带来，并没有用暴力，因为怕民众用石头砸他们。

当圣殿的守卫长和祭司长们听到这些话的时候，就对使徒们的事感到困惑，不知道这事会如何发展。

于是犹大领着一队士兵，还有祭司长们和法利赛人的差役们，带着灯笼、火把、兵器来到那里。

祭司长们和长老们挑唆众人，叫他们要巴拉巴，而除灭耶稣。

这样，神的话语不断扩展，在耶路撒冷门徒的人数大大增多，并且有一大群祭司也听从了这信仰。

到了清晨，所有的祭司长和民间的长老商议对付耶稣，为要处死他。他们把耶稣捆起来带走，交给总督彼拉多。

那时，祭司长们和民间的长老们聚集在叫该亚法的大祭司的宅院里，商议要用诡计拘捕耶稣，把他杀掉。

同样，祭司长们也与经文士们和长老们一起嘲笑，说：

门徒们这才领悟耶稣所说的不是要他们提防饼的酵母，而是要他们提防法利赛人和撒都该人的教导。

他们派了自己的门徒们与希律党的人一同去见耶稣，说：“老师，我们知道你是真诚的，并且按真理教导神的道。你不顾忌任何人，因为你不看人的情面。

大祭司亚纳、该亚法、约翰、亚历山大，以及大祭司家族的人都在那里。

你们当记住我对你们说过的话：“没有一个奴仆大过他的主人。”他们既然逼迫了我，也会逼迫你们；如果他们遵守了我的话，也就会遵守你们的话。
