他去见祭司长和圣殿护卫长，商议如何把耶稣出卖给他们，

又煽动百姓、长老和律法教师抓住司提凡，把他押到公会。

保罗发现他们一些是法利赛人，一些是撒都该人，就在公会中高声说：“弟兄们，我是法利赛人，也是法利赛人的子孙。我因为盼望死人复活，才在这里受审！”这句话立刻引起法利赛人和撒都该人之间的争论，公会分成了两派。因为撒都该人认为没有复活，也没有天使和灵，而法利赛人认为这些都有。众人大声喧嚷，有几个法利赛派的律法教师站起来争辩说：“我们找不出这人有什么错处，也许真的有灵或天使跟他说过话。”

同一天，不相信死人会复活的撒都该人也来问耶稣，说：“老师，摩西说，‘如果一个人死了，没有儿女，只留下妻子，他的兄弟就当娶嫂嫂，替哥哥传宗接代。’

约翰看见很多法利赛人和撒都该人也来受洗，就对他们说：“你们这些毒蛇的后代！谁指示你们逃避那将临的烈怒呢？

圣殿护卫长和差役再去把使徒抓回来。这次他们不敢动粗，生怕百姓会用石头打他们。

圣殿护卫长和祭司长听后，都很困扰，不知道是怎么回事。

这时，犹大带着一队士兵以及祭司长和法利赛人的差役，拿着灯笼、火把和兵器来了。

祭司长和长老却怂恿百姓要求释放巴拉巴，处死耶稣。

你们要这样做，三分之一在安息日值班的祭司和利未人要把守各门，三分之一要把守王宫，三分之一要把守基址门，所有民众要留在耶和华殿的院子里。只有祭司和供职的利未人可以进耶和华的殿，因为他们是圣洁的。其他人一律不准进殿。所有的人都要遵守耶和华的吩咐。利未人要手持兵器护卫在王周围。凡擅自进殿的，一律处死。无论王去哪里，你们都要紧随左右。”于是，利未人和所有犹大人遵照耶何耶大祭司的命令而行，各自带来在安息日值班和休班的属下，因为耶何耶大祭司没有让他们休班。耶何耶大祭司把上帝殿中大卫王的矛枪和大小盾牌交给百夫长。

上帝的道兴旺起来，耶路撒冷的门徒大大增多，连许多祭司也皈信了。

到了清晨，众祭司长和民间的长老商定要处死耶稣。他们把祂绑起来，押送到总督彼拉多那里。

那时，祭司长和民间的长老正聚集在大祭司该亚法的府里，策划逮捕、杀害耶稣。

祭司长、律法教师和长老也嘲讽说：

门徒这才恍然大悟，知道耶稣不是叫他们当心什么面酵，而是要提防法利赛人和撒都该人的教导。

他们派了自己的门徒跟希律党人一同去问耶稣：“老师，我们知道你诚实无伪，按真理传上帝的道，你不徇情面，不以貌取人。

大祭司亚那，以及该亚法、约翰、亚历山大和大祭司的许多亲族都在场。

你们要记住我说的话，‘奴仆不能大过主人。’他们若迫害我，也必迫害你们；他们若遵行我的话，也必遵行你们的话。
